MALOLOS - “Huwag natin kalimutan si Pangulong Cory.”
These are the moving words of Bulacan Gov. Jonjon Mendoza as he honored and recalled the contributions of the late president Corazon Aquino in a Mass offered by the provincial government Monday morning.
at the Provincial Capitol Gymnasium in this city, to lead three million Bulakenyos in paying tribute to a great leader who has roots in the province.
Mendoza cited how Cory stood up and mobilized people from all walks to free the Filipinos from the chains of dictatorship and herald the birth of democracy.
“Mula sa pagiging isang simpleng maybahay, pinangunahan niya ang bansa sa paglaban sa isang diktaturya para makamtan natin ang demokrasya," he said.
“Kay Pangulong Cory nagmula ang kalayaan na ating tinatamasa ngayon, ang kalayaan na sabihin at gawin ang ating gusto,” he added.
The governor also lauded Cory’s formidable faith in the Lord until her remaining moments on earth.
Before the Mass, Bulakenyos offered yellow flowers to the image of Cory which is now placed at the lobby of the Provincial Capitol Building.
The Mass was attended by employees from the Provincial Government, PNP and regional and municipal trial courts who wore yellow clothes.
Last Monday, the provincial government offered a healing mass for Cory’s recovery.
Cory was the first to receive the Natatanging Dangal ng Lipi in Bulacan or Most Oustanding Bulakenyo Award conferred through the annual search, Gawad Dangal ng Lipi, because of her heroic and commendable contributions in our country.
