MANILA – Kapamilya stars have joined ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya to help thousands of people displaced by tropical storm Ondoy (international codename Ketsana).
Angel Locsin, Shaina Magdayao, Maricar Reyes and Zanjoe Marudo, along with other volunteers, went to Barangay Bagong Silangan in Quezon City to personally distribute relief goods to the affected families.
Locsin led the distribution of relief goods at Sagrada Familia Parish.
“Sila ang mg taong never naka-experience ng maginhawang buhay. Wala silang second floor. Wala silang matutungtungan. Wipe out lahat sila,” Locsin said.
Reyes added: “One can’t really express how sad one feel for these people… pero siyempre kailangang umaksyon.”
Pops Fernandez, son Robin, Bing Loyzaga, Cass Ponti, Paw Diaz, John James Uy, Jason Abalos and Bebe Gandanghari, meantime, joined Sagip Kapamilya’s relief mission in Muntinlupa.
They said they would not turn their backs on their fellow Filipinos especially now that they are in dire need of assistance.
“Sa mga nagdudusa, please please hang on. Help will be there,” Gandanghari assured.
Sagip Kapamilya also distributed goods to the evacuees in San Mateo, Rizal where 1,000 families received supplies of food and clothes.
As of 6 p.m. Monday, ABS-CBN telethon has raised P26 million in cash pledges and almost P33 million worth of goods.
