Sony Pictures has just confirmed it by sending out a press release that Andrew Garfield has been cast as the next Spider-Man to be released on July 3rd, 2012 in 3D. The new film will begin production in early December written by James Vanderbilt and directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer).Garfield most recently worked with director David Fincher on the upcoming film The Social Network. Other notable screen credits include The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus, Lions For Lambs and Boy A.
On selecting Garfield, director Marc Webb said, "Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor's work understand his extraordinary talents. He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker."
