MANILA, Philippines- Hollywood stars aired overwhelming support and admiration for Manny Pacquiao after the Filipino boxing champion clinched his historic 8th world title on Saturday (Sunday in Manila).
Famous celebrities-turned-instant boxing fans extended their praise for Pacquiao, who showed boxing prowess over “Tijuana Tornado” Antonio Margarito through a unanimous decision win at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Alyssa Milano, one of the lead starts of US TV hit series "Charmed," said on microblogging site Twitter that it was a scary fight.
American socialite and hotel heiress Paris Hilton, meanwhile, traded her fashion lingo with the latest Sports trending topic: “Retweet if you love Pacquiao! Who watched the fight,” she said.
Hilton’s younger sister Nicholai Olivia, populary known as Nicky, also lauded the 31-year old boxing superstar.
Multi-awarded actor Steven McQueen praised both Pacquiao and all Filipinos worldwide.
“Just wanna congratulate all the Filipinos around the globe. Pacquiao is really the best,” he said.
Pacquiao's fight with Margarito also dominated the music scene.
American Idol Season 7 champion David Cook described Pacquiao as "incredible."
Hollywood actor and rapper Will Smith never doubted Pacquiao’s powerful punches as he said: “I don't think any other fighter in history has fought 8 weight classes like Pacman. We just watched David beat Golliath,” he said.
Another Twitter trending personality greeted the number one fighter in the world.
“Heard Manny did work tonight. I think it's time we got the Money Mayweather fight we have all been waiting for. #EPICBATTLE,” said teen hearthrob Justin Bieber.
Fil-Am R&B pop singer Jasmine Villegas, who sang the American national anthem during Pacman's fight against Ricky Hatton, said that she could never be more prouder for her "kababayan."
“Filipino Pride baby! Pacquiao power punch! Omg! I’m about to have a heart attack watching this fight! Manny end this fight already, I can’t take it! Congratulations Pacquiao, you are trully unbelievable,” she said.
