The latest DOT campaign ‘Pilipinas Kay Ganda’ logo copied from Poland‘s official travel website? This is the question that has been circulating around social networking sites like Twitter lately.
As reported by ABS CBN a few hours ago, there were a lot of criticisms being thrown to the Department of Tourism (DOT) and its website latest logo, with only less than a week after it was launched.
Earlier today, a Pinoy blogger named Spanky Hizon put the two logos on his blog Manila Boy, having the DOT logo on top and the one from Poland just beneath.
“My apologies to the Polish National Tourist Office, I’m really sorry for calling your logo a Google Doodle”. Spanky wrote on his blog.
“And for our (Philippines) Department of Tourism…pwede ba, mag-resign na kaagad ang isa dyan? NAKAKAHIYA.” (Can someone from that office immediately resign? IT’S A SHAME). He added.
Meanwhile, advertising agency Campaigns and Grey Chairperson Yolly Ong told ABS CBN that they are ‘only in an advisory capacity, not the official DOT [Department of Tourism] agency’.
“I don’t know if any money has been spent but certainly we haven’t received a single centavo.” Ong added, whose agency also handled PNoy’s branding during the May 2010 presidential campaign.
“We only did the logo and theme line as I had to leave for a business trip,” according to a text message apparently sent by Ong to ABS CBN’s RG Cruz.
Ong also stressed that the ‘Pilipinas Kay Ganda’ line and logo are still under testing, and there was no campaign yet.
