8 ABS-CBN Programs are Finalists in 2011 New York Festival Awards!


If the Kapuso network bagged 4 awards in this year's New York Festivals (NYF) International TV and Film Awards, the Kapamilya station on the other hand got 8 nominations!

Two TV series, current affair programs, news programs and documentary shows were some of the categories got by ABS-CBN.

Here are the eight nominees from the Kapamilya network:

The cinematic style documentary “Storyline” by Patricia Evangelista and Paolo Villaluna received the most number of nominations among all Philippine entries as it competes in three categories namely Biography/Profiles, Community Portraits, and Social Issues/Current Events categories.

In the Telenovela category which is a newly introduced, two own made Philippine TV series were from ABS-CBN. These were the Jericho Rosales - Kristine Hermosa drama series "Dahil May Isang IKaw" and the first ever fashion-serye on TV, "Magkaribal" which led by Bea Alonzo, Enchong Dee, Erich Gonzales, Derek Ramsey, Angel Aquino, and Gretchen Barreto!

And of course, the intense Manila bus siege coverage “Bloodbath in Manila” in August 23, 2010 make it on the Breaking News Category. Ces Drilon's "I Survived" bagged the Docudrama category nomination while the promotional spot titled “Altar,” created by ABS-CBN Creative Communications Management for the fire prevention month, was also named finalist for the Copywriting: Promotion Spot category.

These 8 nominations from ABS-CBN plus the 4 more from GMA give the Philippine a total of 12 Finalists all in all, the most number of finalists from the Philippines in this year’s competition!

Announcement of winners to receive a gold, silver, and bronze medals respectively will be on the same date of the National Association of Broadcasters show in Las Vegas from April 9-14, 2011!
