Despite having a lukewarm reception on last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival. The drama flick by Albert Martinez “Rosario” have gotten good reviews and is now being recognized by international award giving bodies.
In fact, Rosario movie made it to the list of nominees in the upcoming 14th Shanghai Film Festival vying for “Best Film” as well as “Best Director”.The film’s director, Albert Martinez will be competing against 9 other asian directors for the event’s biggest attraction – the Asia New Talent Award (ANTA).
Aside from Martinez another Filipino director also made it on the list, Sheron Dayoc for his indie film HALAW (Ways of the Sea) which lead last year’s Cinemalaya Festival.Another attraction is the events biggest prize, “The Golden Goblet” which is being contested by 1,519 films from 102 countries.
The Shanghai Film Festival 2011 will be held on June 11-19 2011.
