Kathyrn Bernardo and Julia Montes ang bagong Mara Clara sa ABS-CBN!

In the continuing celebration of the 60 years of Pinoy soap opera, ABS-CBN is bringing back on television one of the longest-running and highly successful drama series of the 90’s.  The Kapamilya network is set to begin production of the remake of Mara Clara, the well loved drama that catapulted Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes to stardom.  From 1992 to 1997, viewers religiously followed the clash of Judy Ann and Gladys characters’ --- the kind and humble Mara versus the scheming and vengeful Clara.

In this much anticipated remake, ABS-CBN has chosen former Goin’ Bulilit stars Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes to take on the roles of Mara and Clara respectively.  Kathryn and Julia are formally offered by the Kapamilya network with this project through a contract signing with ABS-CBN Channel Head Cory Vidanes, Senior Vice President for TV Productions Linggit Tan, and Business Unit Head Deo Endrinal.

Playing the oppressed Mara, Kathryn has been a familiar face on ABS-CBN.  As a part of the kiddie gag show Goin’ Bulilit, she was chosen to play the partner of Makisig Morales in the primetime teleserye Super Inggo.  She was last seen playing the young Gretchen Barretto in Magkaribal.

As the new antagonist Clara, Julia Montes, was also among the roster of Goin’ Bulilit talents.  Julia had done small roles in various ABS-CBN shows like Komiks presents Mars Ravelo’s Nasaan Ka Maruja?, and episodes of Maalaala Mo Kaya, one with Bea Alonzo and another one with Christopher De Leon.

Watch out for the new Mara Clara on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida soon.
