Citing the Kapatid Network's balanced and truthful news reporting, rich and diverse content and skill in using modern technology to deliver cutting-edge information, the Rotary Club of Manila Journalism Awards on Thursday named TV5 the 2011 Television Station of the Year.
TV5 Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Bobby Barreiro received the award on behalf of the station, which has aggressively built its content and added new platforms in three years under new management led by network chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan.

The Rotary Club's vice president and co-chairman of this year's prestigious Journalism Awards, Frank Evaristo, said TV5's brand of journalism is "more on telling the truth without prejudice to anybody, and balanced news reporting - that's what we need."
The awards were handed out at the McKinley Room of the Manila Polo Club in Makati City.
Barreiro said TV5 has gone beyond being merely a broadcasting network. Its rich and innovative content is complemented by the latest technology and a great work force. "We are not television alone; we are in fact a content creator and we will push content to any medium to any device, anywhere, anytime."
