“Ay, ‘yon, part ng production ‘yon!” reasoned out Marian Rivera when asked about the kissing scene she had with rumored boyfriend Dingdong Dantes during the taping of the latter’s birthday TV special, Dantes Peak, last Friday, August 21, at Studio 7 of GMA Network Studios.
Just one day after their much talked about “public display of affection” at Marian’s birthday party, the actress and Dingdong did it again in one of the production numbers of the actor’s TV special, which highlights the new milestones in his career and personal life.
With the female trio La Diva—composed of Jonalyn Viray, Aicelle Santos, and Maricris Garcia—singing the romantic ’70s song “Can You Read My Mind,” Dingdong and Marian performed an interpretative number that ended with a kiss.
However, before the entertainment press could give a different meaning to this scene, Dingdong was quick to say in an interview, “E, bakit naman dati? Ginawa din naman namin dati ‘yon.”
Like Marian, the birthday celebrator also said that it’s part of the production. “Ang ganda lang ng moment, ang ganda ng song,” explained Dingdong.
“Can You Read My Mind” is the popular love theme of the 1978 film Superman, which starred the late Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder. And Superman is one of the comic book superheroes that Dingdong idolizes since he was a kid.
The actor also explained that the number with Marian is connected with his “bookazine,” which is the first installment of YES! Life Stories from Summit Media. This contains exclusive photographs that show his dreams, fantasies, perceptions, and realities in life.
“Itong birthday special is naka-marry siya doon sa bookazine. So, ‘yong mga makikita ninyo sa book, makikita n’yo na rin dito,” Dingdong said.
Catch this “special moment” of Dingdong with Marian and other celebrity friends on his birthday TV special, Dantes Peak, which will be aired on August 30 at GMA-7’s Sunday Night Box Office.
