The multi-awarded actress, last seen in the box office horror flick T2, is happy to be visible again on television. “Excited na ako sa pag-ere ng Florinda sa primetime. Ready na akong mapanood muli sa telebisyon ng ating mga Kapamilya. We poured our sweat and hard work into this project kaya it’s about time na matunghayan naman ng mga manonood ang bunga ng aming paghihirap,” said Maricel. In this mini-series, Maricel plays Florinda, a successful career woman who decides marry her boyfriend Ramil. But Ramil’s mother Doña Cristina disapproves of her daughter-in-law to be, and she dies with a grudge in her heart. Florinda pushes through with tying the knot, but on the wedding day Ramil fails to show up. She is convinced that someone is behind her fiance’s disappearance, and her desperate search takes her to the edge of her sanity. Florinda begins to have horrifying experiences, but can she really trust what she sees? Florinda is helmed by Rahyan Carlos, the director behind horror film Pamahiin and the man in-charge of acting workshops in ABS-CBN. Direk Rahyan admitted that he is a big fan of horror movies. However as a filmmaker, he believes that amidst the frightening sequences there should lie the heart of the story. “Horror for me is just a roller-coaster ride which serves as my way of telling people what it is I want to say. Here in Florinda ang premise is hanggang saan mo ipaglalaban ang pag-ibig mo. ‘Yung character ni Maricel malakas ‘yung faith niya na buhay ‘yung fiancé niya kaya kahit minumulto na siya at napagkakamalan na siyang baliw e hindi siya tumigil sa paghahanap sa taong mahal niya.” Florinda also stars Jay Manalo, Cherry Pie Picache, Roxanne Guinoo, William Martinez, Nikki Gil, Zanjoe Marudo, and Carla Martinez. Watch this suspense thriller beginning September 7 on Primetime Bida. |
