MANILA, Philippines - Top-rating celebrity talk show now has 2 new hosts -- Charlene Gonzales and Toni Gonzaga.
Boy Abunda and KC Concepcion welcomed Gonzales and Gonzaga to the show on Sunday. They replaced Kris Aquino, who recently left "The Buzz" following the victory of her brother, President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, in the May 10 polls.
"Pumayag ang asawa ko, maraming salamat. He was supposed to be here today pero may shooting pa siya," said Gonzales, wife of actor Aga Muhlach.
Asked why she finally agreed to host an entertainment show, the former beauty queen said, "Well, ayoko nang maging safe. Gusto ko nang rumampa tuwing linggo (in my studded heels)."
For his part, Abunda said, "This is a dream come true for us. That one day, we'll get a chance to work together in television. Finally it's here, it's happening."
New family
Gonzaga, meanwhile, became emotional as she took on the job of co-hosting "The Buzz," which has been on the air for 11 years.
Teary-eyed, she expressed gratitude towards the people she left behind in "Entertainment Live," another ABS-CBN celebrity talk show where she used to be a host.
"Thanks to Luis (Manzano), Bianca (Gonzalez) and Mariel (Rodriguez). I wouldn't have done everything without you, your help and support. Maraming salamat sa 3 taon na magkakasama kami kasi na-share ko lahat sa kanila. Mamimiss ko kayo," Gonzaga said.
She also took the opportunity to thank Abunda for accepting her in the show, saying that she is looking forward to a "working friendship" with Gonzales and Concepcion.
"I'm happy kasi I'm looking forward to working with the best," she said.
