Star Cinema and Ambient Media proudly launched RPG Metanoia, the first Filipino 3D animation project as an official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival this December. Those who were present during the press conference/contract signing yesterday, August 10, included ABS-CBN bosses Charo Santos-Concio, Malou Santos, and Anabelle Regalado together with the Ambient Media executives Rob Chien, Charles Rapaport, and Director Louie Suarez.When asked what makes this project different from previous animated films in the country, Direk Louie explained that Metanoia aims to showcase the modern Pinoy kid who’s fond of online games and to reintroduce some old-school games that their parents have grown up to in the past. “Overwhelmed ako kasi dream come true ito para sa amin ng mgako. Four years ago pa kami nag-start so ‘di ako makapaniwala na nandito na kami sa point na ito. Sobrang proud kami na magbigay ng something new sa viewing public atmakapag-contribute sa industry na matagal na kaming part of. Kasi ang goal lang naman sa huli is maglabas ng magandang product para maka-inspire ng future generations ng animators dito sa Philippines.”
Zaijian Jaranilla, who is the voice behind Nico (RPG Metanoia’s lead star), also attended the event and he was equally proud to be part of this huge collaboration between ABS-CBN and Ambient Media. “Masaya po ako kasi kung dati nanonood lang ako ng Cartoon Network, ngayon, eto na, nagda-dubbing na kami tapos ako pa yung bida sa animated movie,” said the network’s renowned wonder boy. As a matter of fact, Zaijian bears an uncanny resemblance to his character which was created even before he became a child star. “Opo, [nakakarelate ako kay Nico] kasi mahilig din ako maglaro ng computer games tulad ng Dota. Kasi si Nico, bata siya na ayaw maglaro sa labas tapos laro lang siya ng laro ng computer niya sa loob ng bahay,” he added.
Joining Zaijian in dubbing Metanoia is Mica dela Cruz who plays as his love interest in the animated film. She’s also into online gaming as well. “Proud na proud po ako kasi kami ng mga kapatid ko talagang mahilig kami saTalagang download kami ng download sa Internet. So nag-enjoy akong gawin ito kasi tungkol ito sang computer. Iba naman siya sa ginagawa ko sa Goin’ Bulilit na parang world ng pambata na mahilig magpatintero, ganun. Kabaliktaran po dito sa RPG Metanoia kasi yung character ko pinipilit ko siya maglaro sa labas.”
Some of the biggest stars of ABS-CBN also agreed to dub for the other characters. Aga Muhlach will be playing Nico’s dad who works overseas and teaches Nico to play computer games. Eugene Domingo will portray Nico’s mom who’s clueless about her son’s modern ways. Vhong Navarro on the other hand will play the Internet shop owner who represents the person that Nico might become in the future. Finally, Jairus Aquino, Aaron Junatas, and Basty Alcanses will comprise Zaijian’s posse in the film.
