In the on-going Who’s That Girl media conference at Citybest Restaurant, support actor John Lapus revealed that he’s going to file a libel case against Jobert Sucaldito next week for his continuous spreading of falsehoods about his person in his tabloid column and radio program.
Who’s That Girl is an Anne Curtis and Luis Manzano starrer by the blockbuster tandem of director Wenn Deramas and writer Mel Mendoza-Del Rosario set to open nationwide on March 2. This romantic-comedy movie is the first co-production of Vic Del Rosario of Viva Films and Henry Sy, Jr. of the SM Development Corporation.
Jobert, according to John, wrote in his Bandera tabloid column on February 19 that he nearly got mauled for losing control of himself at The Library bar last February 14. He’s suing Jobert with entertainment editor Ervin Santiago and publisher Eileen Mangubat.
John has witnesses it was a fabricated story. Andrew de Real, The Library operator, recalls in Showbiz Central last Sunday, “Napunta yung topic sa mga lovelife-lovelife tapos... nagkakaasaran. 'Ay, ikaw walang lovelife, zero ka.' Nabato doon sa isang guy...'Ikaw syota ni Shalala.' Yung parang joke lang. Parang ano ba kung syota ni Shalala. Okay naman si Shalala. Wala namang masama roon. Joke-joke lang.”
Co-performer Philip Lazaro, on the other hand, says, “I was with Sweet in one table and some other friends. Si Mamu (Andrew de Real) and some other friends sa kabilang table. Kiko was there tapos me mga konting biru-biruan.”
Philip denied Kiko got angry by John’s advances and nearly hit him with a beer bottle, “Walang isyu na halos nagpukpukan ng bote. We were both okay. We weren’t drunk kasi maaga pa yon,” he explains.
John said he’s going to sue Jobert to get justice for himself and the entertainment people Jobert had maligned such as Wenn Deramas, Candy Pangilinan, Marian Rivera, James Yap, Jr. and Dr. Vicki Belo.
John will attend the Who’s That Girl premiere on February 27, Sunday, 4pm at the SM North EDSA Skydome. Also expected to grace the event are stars Dina Bonnevie, Candy Pangilinan, DJ Durano and Dennis Padilla.
Advanced ticket selling will be held at the Skydome and ticket holders will have the chance to join games and win prizes from sponsors GSM Blue, Greenwich, Magnolia Lifedrink and Megawide. Radio partner is YES FM101.3.
