The hashtag #ajperezmmk, referring to the Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) episode that starred late teen actor AJ Perez's life, trended worldwide on Twitter on Saturday night. It takes 50,000 tweets and 5,000 contributors for a tag to trend.
Fans of Perez saw his curtain call on Saturday.
MMK, ABS-CBN’s longest drama anthology, featured Perez’s last television project, which he top billed along with child star Bugoy Cariño.
Before he died, Perez had been tweeting about this MMK episode and was genuinely excited about the April 30 showing.
In the episode, Perez portrays the role of a homeless teenager who decides to walk from Manila all the way to Samar to search for his relatives.
Cariño, on the other hand, plays the role of Perez’s brother, who develops a deeper love for him during their long walk-adventure.
Perez died in a car accident last April 17.
