MANILA, Philippines - ‘Wowowee’ co-host Mariel Rodriguez debunked reports saying she's the reason why the movie of action star Robin Padilla and Toni Gonzaga won't push through.
In an interview, Rodriguez said it's not fair to blame her because she has nothing to do with the film's production.
"I think unfair 'yon. Ano naman ang kinalaman ko sa movie nila?" said Rodriguez who is now being romantically linked to Padilla.
Report also has it that Padilla’s upcoming sitcom with Rodriguez is the reason why the film was cancelled.
Rodriguez said that as a friend of Gonzaga, she also felt bad when she heard the news. But what makes it more painful is that their friendship is being dragged into the issue.
"Masakit para sa akin na hindi matutuloy ang pelikula niya. Masakit para sa akin na (dinadamay) ang friendship namin kasi sobrang special ng friendship namin," the actress-host said.
She added: "I love Toni. Toni will always be my sister. Toni and I are, our friendship is beyond showbiz. So, sana, nakikiusap ako, sana ay huwag sirain. Sana huwag kaming lagyan ng issue. Sana ay huwag kaming intrigahin kasi nagmamahalan talaga kami."
Until now, Star Cinema has not yet released an official announcement about the film’s alleged cancellation.
Last Sunday over “The Buzz,” Gonzaga turned emotional as she thanked Rodriguez and two other hosts of "Entertainment Live" – Luis Manzano and Bianca Gonzales -- for their support.
“To my brother and sisters in the industry, si Luis, Bianca and Mariel, I wouldn’t have done everything without your help and your support. So maraming maraming salamat,” Gonzaga said.
On Tuesday, Rodriguez finally admitted she’s dating Padilla.
When asked about the current status of her relationship with Padilla, the actress-host replied: "Wala. We are just getting together."
Currently, Rodriguez is busy promoting her film “Cinco” and hosting “Wowowee” while Gonzaga is the newest host of “The Buzz. ”
She’s also gearing up for her fantasy series “Kokey@Ako” with “Showtime” host Vhong Navarro.
