Arnel Pineda became the lead singer of the popular American group Journey in February of 2008 after Neal Schon invited him to audition based on his performances posted on YouTube. He had since performed in several international venues and recorded an album with Journey.
Rachelle Ann Go is a Filipino singer, actress and model. She is one of the most successful female recording artists of her generation under Viva Records, selling more than 250,000 album copies since she started in 2004. She is currently one of the favorite and popular “Kapuso” stars of GMA 7.

Jovit Baldivino finally nakaduet na si Arnel Pineda sa The Buzz! LIVE!

Ikinagulat ni Jovit Baldivino, Pilipinas Got Talent Grand Winner, ang surprise ng The Buzz sa kanya kahapon dahil habang ini-interview siya ay biglang lumabas sa stage ang idolong si Arnel Pineda. Ito ang kanilang first encounter at parehong sinasabi sa kanilang mga previous interviews na gusto nilang maka-duet ang isa’t isa.
At natupad nga ang pagnanais ni Arnel na mapagbigyan si Jovit na dati ay pangarap lamang na maka-duet si Arnel. Maluha-luha pa ngang nagbigay ng mensahe si Jovit para kay Arnel. “Nagpapasalamat po ako sa kanya kasi po kung hindi dahil sa kanya, hindi ko po napasikat ‘yung kanta n’ya from Journey at wala din po ako dito,” ani Jovit.
Binigyan naman ng payo ni Arnel ang binatilyo na sasabak pa lamang sa kanyang singing career. “Sana huwag kang magbisyo, first talaga (‘yon), sigarilyo, inom iwasan mo and you have to take care of your body kasi iisa lang ‘yan, once masira ‘yan and then that’s it. And then ‘yung opportunity na dumating sa ‘yo sana ingatan mo kasi buti ka pa at the age of 16 nakuha mo ‘yung fame mo. Ako it took me 25 years,” sabi ni Arnel.
Ipinahayag din ni Jovit na pinakamasakit na intrigang ibinabato sa kanya ngayon ay ang balitang hindi raw siya tunay na mahirap. Ang background kasi ni Jovit ay galing sa mahirap na pamilya at tumutulong sa pamamagitan ng pagtitinda ng siomai. Ipinagtanggol naman siya ng The Buzz host na si Kris Aquino, na naging isa sa mga PGT judges din at pinasinungalingan ang paninira kay Jovit.
Dagdag pa ni Kris wala ring katotohanan ang mga balitang sinasabi ng kanyang kasama sa contest na lumaki na ang ulo ni Jovit dahil nang manalo raw ito sa Araneta Coliseum noong grand finals ay buong-buo ang pagyakap sa kanya ng kanyang mga kalaban, patunay lamang na masaya sila at sincere para sa nakamit ng kasamahan.

Arnel Pineda vs Jovit Baldivino in "Faithfully" WATCH IT HERE!

I was watching Wowowee June 19 episode when Jovit Baldovino (Pilipinas Got Talent first grand winner) begun singing 'Faithfully' by Journey. 'Faithfully' was a signature song of Arnel Pineda (current singer of Journey) and we've all seen how Arnel carried this song with flying colors that's why i thought of putting their videos side by side for us to see how both of them would fair.
In my humble opinion they're both good but they also have their own unique twists thrown into the mix. So just hear for yourself and you decide.

MANILA - Despite negative reactions to singer Freddie Aguilar’s comment that foreigners call most Filipino singers who ape foreign acts “monkeys," he still won't apologize to Charice Pempengco and Arnel Pineda of Journey Band for his opinion.
“Bakit ako mag-a-apologize? I am speaking out the truth so why do I have to apologize? It’s my opinion and I am entitled to one. I am fighting for the truth,” the folk singer says bravely and firmly.
He says he doesn’t mind being unpopular. “Ako ang lumalabas na kontrabida sa isyung ito, okey lang. Ganyan naman tayo, e. Marami sa atin, madali lang mag-judge sa kung sino ang kontrabida. Kasi, ang kalaban ko rito, ang masa. Pero hindi ko sila masisisi dahil ang pangit ng edukasyon natin."
“Masuwerte ako dahil naabot ko pa ‘yong public education noon na talagang pulido. Pero ngayon, pati media, nakakabobo. Kaya paano mo masasabi na papanig sa’yo ang masa?
“Sa mga nagre-react sa akin ngayon negatively, hindi ko kayo masisisi pero sana ay mamulat na tayo. Manggagaya ang marami sa ating mga Pinoy kaya kailangang magbago na tayo. Mahirap ang buhay pero mas hihirap kung magpapatuloy pa tayo sa panggagaya. Nawawala ang ating national identity kaya paano tayo paniniwalaan sa labas ng bansa? Wala talagang tutulong sa atin.
“Alam ko, meron ding nakakaintindi sa akin, ‘yong mga nag-iisip na kababayan natin. At kahit hindi mag-react ‘yon ngayon, sila ang pag-asa ng bayan. Kung ang iniidolo natin ay ang mga colonial, there’s something wrong with us.
“Hindi ko naman idinidikta na huwag tayong magsalita o kumanta ng Ingles. Ako, nag-i-Ingles din. Ang sinasabi ko lang, ipaglaban natin ang Tagalog songs.
“Kahit ulit-ulitin ko pa, kung pinagbawalan si Charice na kumanta ng Tagalog, ‘yon, maiintidihan ko pa o kaya ay si Arnel ay ayaw pakinggan ng Journey Band na mag-Tagalog, ‘yon, maiintindihan ko. Pero nagko-concert din naman ako sa Amerika at nakakapag-Tagalog ako,” elucidates Ka Freddie.
He thanks other Filipino artists who have remained nationalistic like Heber Bartolome, Joey Ayala, Noel Cabangon, Gary Granada and many more.
“Tingnan mo sina Bamboo, ang Kamikaze Band, si Rico Blanco. ‘Yang mga ‘yan, mapupuri mo, ipinaglalaban talaga nila ang Tagalog songs. Alam ko, kumakanta rin sila ng Ingles pero ipino-promote nila ang Filipino,” says Aguilar.

Freddie Aguilar to local singers: ‘Kayo ang nagpatawag na unggoy dahil gaya-gaya kayo’

Kinlaro ng batikang musikero na si Freddie Aguilar na hindi umano niya tinawag na unggoy si Charice Pempengco at Arnel Pineda. “Hindi ako ang nagsasabi ng monkey,” diin ni Ka Freddie. “Ang sabi ko, kaya tayo binabansagang Pilipino na unggoy ay dahil manggagaya tayo. Ako ang magtatanong sa lahat ng singer na Pilipino, bakit puro banyaga ang kinakanta ninyo? ‘Yan ang tanong ko, hindi ‘yung tinatanong n’yo sa akin kung bakit ko kayo tinatawag na unggoy. Kayo ang nagpatawag na unggoy dahil gaya-gaya kayo.”
Dahil sa umano’y komento ni Ka Freddie ay nagsimula ang mainit na sagutan sa kabi-kabilang partido. Nadawit din ang pangalan ni Gary Valenciano kung saan ipinagtanggol niya kamakailan si Charice dahil sa tinuran umano ni Ka Freddie na tinawag niyang unggoy si Charice na nanggagaya lamang ng kanta ng foreign artista upang sumikat.
Pumalag din si Arnel at sinabing sumobra si Ka Freddie sa pagtawag sa kanilang dalawa ni Charice na unggoy o gaya-gaya. Subalit sa The Buzz kahapon ay sinabi sa panayam sa beteranong singer na hindi niya isinali si Arnel. “Si Arnel hindi ko siya isinama do’n. Binanggit lang ‘yung pangalan ni Gary tapos si Regine (Velasquez) din na tinawag din daw ni Mariah Carey nang (unggoy),” paliwanag ni Ka Freddie. “Tapos dinugtong ko na lang ‘yun pero actually isa lang ang itinanong, si Charice lang. At wala akong galit kay Charice o kay Gary, wala. Tinanong lang ako. Tinanong ako sa opinyon ko, alangan naman ‘yung ibigay ko hindi ‘yung nararamdaman ko.”
Nagbigay rin siya ng mensahe sa batang singing sensation at inulit ang sinabi niya na mas ikararangal niya si Charice kung kantang Pilipino ang kanyang inaawit sa halip na kanta ng mga foreign singer. “Charice, magaling kang singer pero mas bibilib ako sa ‘yo kung kakanta ka ng sariling atin.”
Sa POV (Points, Opinion, Violent Reaction) portion ng The Buzz kahapon, sinabi ni Boy Abunda na maaaring ang ibig sabihin ni Ka Freddie ay kung patuloy na sisikat si Charice sa pagdaan ng panahon, maaari umano niyang imungkahi na kumanta ng ilang Pilipinong awit. Bilang halimbawa rin ay tinukoy ni Kris Aquino ang sikat na front-man ng Black Eyed Peas na si Apl.de.ap kung saan sa ilang album ng grupo ay may kantang Pinoy na kasali kagaya ng “Bebot” at “The Apl Song.” “He had Bebot. In fairness to Apl.de.ap, who came from Pampanga sa Black Eyed Peas in every album and thank you Black Eyed Peas, pinapayagan siyang maglagay ng Pinoy song.” Subalit nilinaw ni Boy na nagawa ito ni Apl.de.ap dahil may impluwensiya na siya at matagal na sa industriya. Sinangayunan naman ito ni Ruffa Gutierrez. “He’s been with Black Eyed Peas for a while pero si Charice naman, give the poor girl a chance dahil nag-uumpisa pa lang siya. She’s very young so huwag naman natin siyang laitin. At least she’s brought honor to our country.”

Freddie Aguilar: Charice,Gary at Arnel mga MONKEY at GAYA-GAYA !
MANILA - Arnel Pineda, the Filipino front man of the famed American rock band “Journey,” on Thursday lashed out at folk music icon Freddie Aguilar for reportedly comparing him and international singing sensation Charice to monkeys.Pineda reminded Aguilar that he should be “tactful” when making such statement. He pointed out that the “Anak” singer went “overboard” when he used the word “monkey” to refer to them.
“Sana lang next time maging tactful lang siya doon sa pagsabi niya about unggoy kasi... Filipino din siya. I think medyo nag-overboard siya when he said the word ‘monkey’ kasi kapwa niya kami Filipino. So, hindi niya kailangang mag-name ng ganoon," Pineda said during the launching of “My Backyard,” the environmental protection campaign of computer manufacturer HP Philippines.
Aguilar was reportedly not impressed by Charice and Pineda’s achievements abroad. Aguilar reportedly noted that the two only proved what international singer Mariah Carey had said about Filipinos.
Carey had reportedly likened Filipinos to monkeys because they would only mimic the styles and songs of other international artists.
Pineda, however, has a different view. The “Journey” vocalist said he believes that they still make Filipinos proud although they only belt out American songs. He also pointed out that singing “Journey” songs doesn’t make him less patriotic.
“If he's not proud of what we have achieved, me and Charice, desisyon na niya iyan. I believe na kung kinakanta ko man ay puro English and hindi iyong sarili nating salita, I still make Filipino proud of what I have achieved,” he said.
He said he could not change Aguilar’s “mindset” but he hopes he would refrain from saying bad things about his fellow Filipino artists.
"I hope na next time you will never say that again kasi you know kapwa mo kami Filipino. We are only trying our best para maging kapaki-pakinabang din para sa bansa at sa kababayan natin," Pineda said.
‘Mr. Pure Energy’ speaks up
Gary Valenciano also disagreed with Aguilar’s opinion.
“In that case, then I'm one because in my concerts I don't always do Gary Valenciano. I think we stand up there (on stage) to also pay respect to the artists that inspired [us]," he said.
He added: “Iyong mga kinakanta ni Charice, nai-inspire lang siya at ang nangyayari kay Charice, especially kay Charice as an example, nabibigyan na siya ng pagkakataon na kumanta ng sarili niyang mga kanta.”
