ABS-CBN's The X Factor Philippines premieres this Saturday, June 23!

The country’s biggest and grandest musical event of the year kicks off this Saturday (June 23) as ABS-CBN premieres the much-awaited Philippine adaptation of the worldwide phenomenal hit ‘X Factor’ franchise, “The X Factor Philippines,” with KC Concepcion as host and Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Charice Pempengco, and Pilita Corrales as celebrity judge-mentors.
“The X Factor Philippines” is searching for undiscovered talent 16 years old and above that will be divided into four categories: Girls, Boys, Adults and Groups. They should be willing to brave the panel for a chance to win the biggest prize in a Philippine singing competition, a whopping P4 million worth of prizes, and become the next Pinoy multimedia star.
After months of auditions in 70 cities across the country, more than 20,000 hopefuls flocked to the audition venues in hopes of fulfilling their dreams. But it wasn’t an easy ride for each and every one of them as they underwent a tedious screening process.
As early as the audition stage, the hopefuls must instantly impress the judges and at the same time an audience of thousands that can be a potential legion of fans. The auditionees need at least three yes’s from the judge-mentors to be able to proceed to the next stage— the Boot Camp.
In the Boot Camp, selected contestants will go through a series of performances that will further test their ‘x factor.’ This will enable the judge-mentors to select and trim them down to 20 contestants divided in four categories— five solo male contestants aged 16-25 or the “Boys,” five solo female contestants aged 16-25 or “Girls,” five solo contestants over 25 years old or the “Adults,” and five group contestants aged 16 and above or the “Groups.”
Before advancing to the Judges’ Homes stage, “The X Factor Philippines” producers will then reveal which category judge-mentors Martin, Gary, Charice, and Pilita will be mentoring. The judge-mentors then take the contestants to their respective “Judge’s Home” where they will select the best performers to take to the live show.
Only three contestants from each category will complete the final 12 contestants who will proceed in the last and final stage of the competition. At this point, the finalists must face the fifth and final judge who has the sole power to turn their dream of becoming a star into reality— the viewers.
Who will become the first grand winner of “The X Factor Philippines” and win about P4 million in prizes? Will the winner come from the Boys, Girls, Adults, or Groups? Who among the mentors will coach the country’s next singing superstar?
Watch out for jaw-dropping performances from auditionees and unexpected tensions among the celebrity judge-mentors. More surprises are also coming your way in weeks to come.
First introduced in the UK, “The X Factor” has conquered more than 30 countries as of mid-2011 and produced more than 50 winners around the world. Its UK format gave birth to multi-platinum album selling artists Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke and the newest group hitting the charts, One Direction. To date, it is considered to be UK’s biggest talent search.
Meanwhile, in the US, the second season of “The X Factor USA” will soon hit TV screen with Britney Spears and Demi Lovato joining the judges table. Together with Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid, they are about to search the successor to first “The X Factor USA” grand winner, Melanie Amaro.
Don’t miss the much-awaited premiere of the country’s biggest and grandest musical event of the year, “The X Factor Philippines,” this Saturday (June 23) after “MMK,” on ABS-CBN. The show also airs on Sundays after “Sarah G Live.”

DJ Mo Twister and 2 others got suspended over #CharicePempengcoSexTape Joke!

From @Mia899 :
We would like to apologize for those that were offended at the poor attempt of a joke during our program. The spirit in which it was intended was EXTREME exaggeration and not of fact. Little did we consider the feelings of the parties involved. We promise our best effort to not let it happen again and bring a different kind of entertainment via the program from now on. Sincerest apologies to , her family and her many loyal fans. IT was a sheer lapse of judgement in which I deeply regret.

From @DJMoTwister :

I want to take the opportunity to apologize to Charice for a stupid & cruel joke on our show today. We attempted to be funny at her expense and, in the process, hurt her feelings. It's with deep regret that we have come to learn that. On behalf of  and  we apologize Charice for our stupid behavior and immature attempt to generate laughs. You have worked so very hard, not just for yourself and your family, but to put our country in a positive light, to promote immense Filipino talent, and you have done that successfully. We are proud of you and we are embarrasses because we failed to support that. I wish I could make it up to you and rest assured that we will exhaust every avenue to do so. We are sorry. You've been nothing but supportive of our show in the past. We failed to show our appreciation today.  For those we tried to entertain today with our dumb attempt at being funny, I ask you no longer contribute to that made up hashtag. It holds no truth to it.  and I would like to apologize publicly tomorrow on our radio show to Charice and her fans.

From @Suzy899 :

i would like to apologize to charice who has shown me NOTHING but kindness, & to u the listeners who have always been so loving & supportive. i am taking responsibility for everything that was said, but please know that there was ZERO malicious intent. ZERO. i am sincerely sorry. it was horrible judgement on our part, and i would like to thank both those who have condemned it & those to have remained supportive. i am sorry, and i will do everything humanly possible to not do anything like it again. in behalf of the team -  & myself - sorry magic listeners, Charice, & her fans. you all deserved better from us.

Charice's Dad stabbed to death in Laguna; Charice: "I loved him and will still love him."

Glee star Charice Pempengco has suffered an horrific family tragedy: her estranged father has been stabbed to death in her hometown in the Philippines.

The actress, who plays Sunshine Corazon on the hit musical show and is an Oprah Winfrey favorite, pulled out of a concert she had scheduled in Singapore to travel home to be with family.

Here's what we know happened to her dad:

Charice's father, Ricky Pempengco, 40, was a construction worker who had been shopping Monday at a small grocery store in San Pedro, a township south of Manila, when he accidentally brushed up against another man.

The unidentified other man, who was allegedly drunk, became enraged and stabbed Pempengco with an ice pick in the chest and back, according to the Laguna province police chief, Senior Supt. Gilbert Cruz.

After learning of the tragedy, Charice apologized to her fans for having to skip her shows Wednesday and Thursday.

"I am not going to be there to be part of David Foster and Friends concert, I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family," she wrote on her Twitter page Tuesday.

A manhunt has been launched for the suspect, with a $470 award for information leading to his arrest. According to police, the stabbing was random and there was no indication the suspect even knew Pempengco.

Charice, 19, and her father have long been estranged—her mother left him when she was a young girl, although she doesn't hold a grudge.

"I loved him and will still love him. He's still my dad after all," she wrote on Twitter.

Charice, Anne Curtis, Cristine Reyes- Thanksgiving Unity Concert @ San Francisco & Los Angeles!

Public Announcement

To our Filipino friends, Ticket holders, Artists:

With much regret, the two concerts on Nov. 18th in Los Angeles, and Nov. 19th in Daly City, are being postponed. Artist Magic Entertainment had contracted with a third party broker for several of the best Filipino artists to perform at both concerts, including: Anne Curtis, Cristine Reyes, Mark Bautista, and Bayani Agbayani. While we at Artist Magic paid the performance fees to this third party as contracted, something fell apart and these incredible artists will not be making the trip to the United States to perform as expected. While it is unclear exactly what happened, it is clear they are not coming.

We will work with the artists’ managers to arrange for the postponed concerts. We anticipate resolving any issues and offering these shows in February or March of next year. We intend to work directly with the artists’ managers to ensure we can provide quality programs for our Filipino community. As for myself and on behalf of my entire team at AME365.com, we would like to apologize for not being able to provide our Filipino friends and ticket holders with these promising shows, and also to apologize to the artists for not providing a platform for them to perform in front of their adoring fans. We also sincerely apologize to both Charice and Dan Hill who were both ready to perform.

It is extremely sad to have to delay two beautiful concerts, but we certainly are looking forward to the new shows in 2012. Meanwhile, tickets may be refunded from the outlets where they were purchased.

Sincerely,

Pia Gutierrez and Kenneth Graham
