The country’s biggest and grandest musical event of the year kicks off this Saturday (June 23) as ABS-CBN premieres the much-awaited Philippine adaptation of the worldwide phenomenal hit ‘X Factor’ franchise, “The X Factor Philippines,” with KC Concepcion as host and Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Charice Pempengco, and Pilita Corrales as celebrity judge-mentors.

“The X Factor Philippines” is searching for undiscovered talent 16 years old and above that will be divided into four categories: Girls, Boys, Adults and Groups. They should be willing to brave the panel for a chance to win the biggest prize in a Philippine singing competition, a whopping P4 million worth of prizes, and become the next Pinoy multimedia star.

After months of auditions in 70 cities across the country, more than 20,000 hopefuls flocked to the audition venues in hopes of fulfilling their dreams. But it wasn’t an easy ride for each and every one of them as they underwent a tedious screening process.

As early as the audition stage, the hopefuls must instantly impress the judges and at the same time an audience of thousands that can be a potential legion of fans. The auditionees need at least three yes’s from the judge-mentors to be able to proceed to the next stage— the Boot Camp.

In the Boot Camp, selected contestants will go through a series of performances that will further test their ‘x factor.’ This will enable the judge-mentors to select and trim them down to 20 contestants divided in four categories— five solo male contestants aged 16-25 or the “Boys,” five solo female contestants aged 16-25 or “Girls,” five solo contestants over 25 years old or the “Adults,” and five group contestants aged 16 and above or the “Groups.”

Before advancing to the Judges’ Homes stage, “The X Factor Philippines” producers will then reveal which category judge-mentors Martin, Gary, Charice, and Pilita will be mentoring. The judge-mentors then take the contestants to their respective “Judge’s Home” where they will select the best performers to take to the live show.

Only three contestants from each category will complete the final 12 contestants who will proceed in the last and final stage of the competition. At this point, the finalists must face the fifth and final judge who has the sole power to turn their dream of becoming a star into reality— the viewers.

Who will become the first grand winner of “The X Factor Philippines” and win about P4 million in prizes? Will the winner come from the Boys, Girls, Adults, or Groups? Who among the mentors will coach the country’s next singing superstar?

Watch out for jaw-dropping performances from auditionees and unexpected tensions among the celebrity judge-mentors. More surprises are also coming your way in weeks to come.

First introduced in the UK, “The X Factor” has conquered more than 30 countries as of mid-2011 and produced more than 50 winners around the world. Its UK format gave birth to multi-platinum album selling artists Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke and the newest group hitting the charts, One Direction. To date, it is considered to be UK’s biggest talent search.

Meanwhile, in the US, the second season of “The X Factor USA” will soon hit TV screen with Britney Spears and Demi Lovato joining the judges table. Together with Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid, they are about to search the successor to first “The X Factor USA” grand winner, Melanie Amaro.

Charice Pempengco says fans can expect to see more of her in ‘Glee’; Charice rocks Concert!

Despite her jam-packed schedule, Charice was back in the country much to the delight of over 80,000 fans who attended the 1 @ 11 Aficionado anniversary concert held at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds last January 8. The international pop sensation was launched, along with Gary Valenciano, as one of the newest endorsers of the perfume company. The day also marked the birthday of her mother Racquel, whom the 18-year-old singer surprised with a red Louis Vuitton handbag. “Eto dala-dala ko. Ngayon lang niya binigay. Hindi ko hiniling. Siyempre natuwa ako kasi alam niyang yan yung paborito ko, yung mga bag,” said Mommy Racquel, who was waiting backstage during the concert. Charice sang her hit song “Pyramid” after a lively duet with Gary V and capped off her performance with an original song written by David Foster. Before she left the stage, Charice told the audience, “Patuloy niyo po sana panuorin ang Glee. May five to six episodes pa na lalabas ako dun!” she shared excitedly.

After the Philippines, Charice is planning to go back to Japan to stage a concert. Her album is reportedly on its way towards reaching Platinum status there. Mommy Racquel also shared what her daughter wishes for in 2011. “Sa ngayon, happy na siya kasi siyempre katulad nung wish niya na health niya lang, wala sanang sakit sa ngayon na hectic yung sched niya, na walang mangyari sa kanyang karamdaman katulad nung lately na nangyayari sa kanya, sana yun ang maiwasan sa kanya,” she said.

Mommy Raquel also admitted that Charice was very excited when Aficionado owner Joel Cruz contacted them about having her own perfume line. “Kasi siyempre wish yan ng lahat na magkaroon ng sariling pabango. Siyempre ung in-offer-an kami, sabi ko, ‘Gusto mo ba magkakaroon ka ng pabango, yung mga paborito mong pabango ilalagay na sa sarili mong pangalan?’ Sabi niya ‘Hay naku mommy excited ako diyan!’ Siyemre tuwang-tuwa siya kaya kita niyo nga yung reaction kung gaano siya katuwa kasi dream niya rin na magkaroon ng sarili niyang pangalan sa pabango,” she explained.

Now that her daughter is of legal age, Mommy Racquel said that she has given Charice the freedom to make her own decisions about her career. “Siyempre binibgyan ko siya ng mga choices, kung piliin niya ito, ganito ang mangyayari. Kasi kaya naman pumapayag rin naman siya kasi hindi naman puwedeng ako lang ang may gusto, dapat pareho naming dalawa na gusto dahil ayoko ng may, ‘Mommy ikaw may kasalanan.’ Gusto ko yung gagawin niya yung gusto niya at gusto ko rin,” she added.

This freedom extends even to Charice’s choice of future boyfriends. “Sabi ko nga open na open ako, wala akong pakikialaman dahil 18 na si Charice. Gusto kong maranasan niya rin. Parang ako, nadaanan ko rin. Ayoko na kino-kontrol siya pagdating sa ganyan. Gusto ko maranasan niya. Siyempre yung gabay na lang at paalala, yun ang hindi mawawala sa kanya. Hindi ko aanuhin na gustohin mo yan pero sana kilalanin mo. Siyempre gabay lang. hindi ko naman puwede sabihin na ayoko diyan. Desisyon niya yun eh, kung sino ang gusto niya, gustohin niya. Basta magpapaalala lang ako. Andito lang ako,” she stressed.

Mommy Racquel also said that Charice is still intent on continuing with her studies despite her busy work schedule because she also wants to fulfill her goal of becoming a lawyer someday. For her birthday, she only has one loving wish for Charice. “Yung good health lang ni Charice tsaka sa pamilya ko ang wish ko. Yun lang. Siyempre number one si Charice kasi siya yung laging nasa ibang bansa, yung laging pagod. Yun lang naman ang wish ko,” she said.

Joel Cruz – Philippines’ scent magnate opens 2011 with an grand show entitled “1 @ 11” slated on January 8 at SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.

The event will also become the venue for the formal launch of Charice, Gary Valenciano and John Lloyd Cruz as Aficionado Germany Perfumes and Joel Cruz Signatures International newest endorsers.

The event will also feature other star endorsers of Aficionado Germany Perfumes and Joel Cruz Signatures like Ejay Falcon, Erich Gonzales, Pauleen Luna and Alfred Vargas.

Charice will have 3 variants of patented scents made especially for her namely “Charice Perfume for Women,” “Charice Unisex Perfume,” and another men’s cologne under her name. Gary Valenciano, meanwhile, has two variants aptly called “Gary Valenciano for Aficionado” both for men and women.

The show will feature Charice and Gary V together for the very first time in a huge musical event in a big venue as SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds. The event will also showcase an impressive assembly of the country’s top male and female models as they sashay their way through the runway wearing Joel Cruz Signatures’ newest apparel collection.

Pop/rock band Kamikazee will power the house after the fashion show and the main concert event of Charice and Gary V. Other great surprises await the audiences as Joel Cruz will give away special prizes amounting over a million pesos!

Over-all event direction is by Roxanne Lapus and Robby Carmona directs the event’s special fashion show segment.
