Lea Salonga: 'I ranked Shamcey Supsup 2nd' She's 'Smart, spirited, gorgeous'

My stomach started to turn when the Final 5 were called, as this would mean it was time for the final question. Contrary to popular belief, we as judges don’t come up with the questions; they are assigned to us. Although I got some amazing suggestions on Facebook and Twitter (thank you all, by the way), I couldn’t use them.

As far as the runners-up were concerned, I think each judge had a different ranking, depending on how each girl came across to which judge. I had no idea how anyone else scored. I might have ranked one girl high while someone else ranked that same girl low.

Unanimous

Except of course for the eventual winner, Miss Angola Leila Lopes. I think we were all unanimous in our decision. She radiated grace and elegance from the moment she stepped on stage, and gave a great answer to her final question (which I happened to ask her; she picked my name out of the fishbowl. And that is all, lest anyone think that I made luto that process. No way.)

I ranked Shamcey Supsup second, if I’m being honest. What the TV audience saw could have been different from what we saw. And although Miss Philippines ranked highly up until the final question, we had to consider every single part of the competition. I really liked her answer as she displayed conviction and honesty. But there are nine of us judging.

Gorgeous Shamcey

I thought Shamcey represented our country very well. Smart, spirited, gorgeous. I wasn’t at all disappointed because she displayed what is so great about Filipino women: strength, beauty, intelligence. She should be very happy.

First thing I said to her was congratulations! I then asked if I could have a photo taken with her.

I don’t know what others thought of Shamcey, all our moves were being monitored and any sort of serious discussion might be misconstrued.

Right after the pageant’s conclusion, security whisked us back to the green room. There were a couple of parties that followed, but I didn’t stay long at either of them. I had a looming deadline and I’ve found myself disdainful at loud music and way too many strobe lights.

I’m now back in my hotel room with a snack and soothing music playing. A peaceful end to a very exciting night. To the new Miss Universe, congratulations on a marvelous competition. Enjoy your whirlwind year!

Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, announce today the celebrities and experts who will judge at the 60th Annual “Miss Universe® Pageant,” which will be broadcast live from Credicard Hall in São Paulo, Brazil on Monday, September 12 at 9 p.m. ET. Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Bebel Gilberto, daughter of Brazilian legend Joao Gilberto, will perform her electronic bossa nova single “Close Your Eyes” during the evening gown portion of the competition. Meanwhile, Brazilian native pop singer Claudia Leitte will turn the heat up when she performs her new single “Locomotion” during the swimsuit competition.

As previously announced, Andy Cohen, host of Bravo’s “Watch What Happens: Live,” and Natalie Morales, news anchor of NBC’s “Today” will host the “2011 Miss Universe® Pageant.” Joining them will be host of Style Network’s “How Do I Look” Jeannie Mai and Shandi Finnessy, Miss USA 2004, who will provide skybox fashion commentary throughout the LIVE telecast.

For the first time ever, fans in represented countries have been able to vote for their favorite contestant for an automatic spot into the semifinals at the 2011 Miss Universe® Competition. Fans can vote online at www.missuniverse.com or www.NBC.com. Online voting is taking place now through September 11 (9 p.m. ET).

The 2011 MISS UNIVERSE® Pageant kicks off a series of worldwide events hosted by Brazil. In addition to this global beauty event, Brazil is host to the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. With the city of São Paulo at center stage, the pageant will take place at Credicard Hall, a prominent music theater for the city.

The two-hour television event, comprised of contestants representing approximately 90 countries around the world, will compete in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. In past years, worldwide distribution of the competition has topped nearly 190 countries and territories.

To the technology now a days, halos lahat na ng mga tao ay my mga social networking accounts.

Sa controversy na inihaharap ni Willie Revillame ngayon about the Child Abuse case and other complaints about Jan-Jan Willing Willie episode.. hindi rin maiiwasan na mag react ang mga ibang tao lalo na ang mga Artista sa iba't ibang industriya!

May mga singers, artists, actor, and different artists ang nag tweet their voice and opinion allegedly against Willie Revillame misbehavior.

Binantaan pa nga niya ang mga unamed artists na mag stop tweet against him.
He said:

“At doon sa mga artista na nagti-tweet (laban) sa akin, tumulong na lang kayo sa inyong mga kababayan. Huwag na kayong magsasalita sa tweet ninyo. Hindi ko na babanggitin ang mga pangalan ninyo kasi kapag binanggit ko ang mga pangalan ninyo, marami ang magagalit sa inyo.

“Maniwala kayo sa akin, marami ang magagalit sa inyo kapag binanggit ko ang pangalan ninyo. Huwag na kayong mag-tweet, pare-pareho tayong nasa industriya.

“Mag-concert ka, kung sino ka man, ng libre at ‘yung pera na kikitain mo, ibigay mo, okey? ‘Yun ang dapat mong gawin, huwag kang mag-ti-tweet.

“Sa ibang mga artista, magkakasama tayo dito. Saka alamin n’yo muna ang ginagawa ng programa. Hindi namin kailangan na ipakita na on air o off air ‘yan. Marami kaming ginagawang kabutihan para sa ating mga kababayan.”

Pero, ang mga artista na pala na binabanggit ni Willie ay sina Lea Salonga and Aiza Seguerra.
