MTRCB: 'Willing Willie' pwedeng bumalik next week starting May 9, 2011!

(Updated 3:07 pm) MANILA, Philippines - The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) gave the greenlight for TV5's "Willing Willie" program to go back on air next week.
The MTRCB issued the decision on Tuesday after weeks of investigation into the alleged child abuse of 6-year-old Janjan Suan on the show's March 12 episode.
The show stopped showing live episodes on April 8, following the controversy. Willing Willie host, Willie Revillame, announced that they would go off-the-air starting April 11 and will return after two weeks. TV5 executives also said the show will return with a few changes in its format.
The MTRCB said it acknowledged the actions of TV5 to address the issue, including the appointment of a child ombudsman. On April 19, TV5 issued “Guidelines on the Treatment of Children as Viewers, Subjects, Talents or Participants,” which will be followed by all shows of the network.
But the MTRCB said that the popular game show is required to secure a permit from the MTRCB on every episode until the show can prove that they are more responsible in their broadcast.

'Willing Willie' still 'Under Construction' & will be back soon!; 'Willing Willie' may bagong set design!

MANILA, Philippines – The wrath of intrigues apparently did not tear down “Willing Willie” as the TV5 show will return after a few weeks in hiatus.

This was revealed by one of the show's co-hosts, Shalani Soledad, during the live “Presscon Express” segment of “Paparazzi” on April 24.
“Sa mga milyong-milyon na naga-abang kung kelan po babalik ang ‘Willing Willie,’ malapit na po. And of course, marami ang ginagawa, marami kaming ini-improve sa show para pag-balik natin mas lalo pang mag-enjoy ang ating mga [manonood],” Soledad announced.
Although the exact date of its comeback is still being fixed, according to Soledad, she did divulge one of the major changes on “Willing Willie” in terms of its set design.
“Meron na tayong bagong flooring, which we are very proud [of]. This is the first LED flooring sa buong Pilipinas. So abangan niyo po ‘yan,” she said.
Soledad admitted that she misses the show (“it’s part of my system already,” she said) since it went off-air temporarily following the flak that “Willing Willie,” and particularly its main host Willie Revillame, drew due to the alleged abusive treatment that a six-year-old “macho-dancing” boy got during the primetime program’s March 12 episode.
While “Willing Willie” is on break, Soledad said she devotes her energy in fulfilling her duties as councilor of Valenzuela City.
“Of course ‘yung trabaho natin bilang konsehal sa ating lungsod sa Valenzuela, tuloy-tuloy, mas meron tayong madaming pinagkakaabalahan ngayon,” she related.
It was not specifically mentioned in Soledad’s statements, however, if the show’s comeback would also mark the return of Revillame. Recall that the highly-berated TV host took a leave from “Willing Willie” more than two weeks ago to rest and contemplate on whether or not he will resume working in local showbiz.
Although Soledad said she got hurt over the criticisms that the “macho-dancing” incident ensued---from ordinary citizens to public figures such as politicians, government officials and showbiz personalities---she maintained, “We respect everyone’s decision.”
Aware that they can’t please everyone, Soledad said they would simply keep the show’s primary intention in mind.
“Ang intention namin lalong makapagbigay ng saya... as well as to be able to help enrich ‘yung lives nung mga kababayan natin. So ‘yun lang ‘yung parati naming tinatandaan. As long as wala naman tayong ginagawang masama, wala tayong tinatapakan... ‘Yun ang importante sa’tin,” said she.
Soledad is grateful that despite the deluge of issues, they have a good support system.
“‘Yung support system na meron kami, ‘yung family namin, and pati ‘yung members ng buong ‘Willing Willie,’ very supportive.
“Sabi ko nga last year hindi lang ako nagkaron ng bagong trabaho, nagkaron din ako ng bagong tahanan, at ng bagong pamilya. So very inherent ‘yon sa ‘Willing Willie’, kasi makikita mo from Jay (Montelibano, Business Unit Head of ‘Willing Willie’), mula sa ating floor director, sa ating mga dancers pati sa aming cameramen, 'pag nakikita mo talaga, isang pamilya,” she said.
She is likewise thankful for their supporters.
“Simula po noong [pumutok] itong issue na ‘to, ang dami pong nagte-text, tumatawag…” Soledad said.
Asked what kind of support she gives Revillame, with whom she is being romantically linked, the 30-year-old host-politician said, “All I can do is to assure him ‘yung support natin nasa kanya and 'pag kailangan niya tayo nandito lang tayo.”
Soledad did not veer away from the safe side when prodded about the real score between her and Revillame.
“With Willie kasi, how you see us on TV is how we really are. Si Willie kasi makulit eh, mabiro, so that’s his usual charming self. So ‘yon,” she simply said.
But she was interestingly open to include her love life as one of her wishes for her upcoming birthday on April 27.
“Number one, sana mag-improve tayo as a host, siyempre kasama na rin don magtagal ang ‘Willing Willie;’ number two, mas madami tayong magawa bilang konsehal sa lungsod ng Valenzuela; tapos meron din personal wishes pa tapos kasama din don ‘yung love life,” she said, smiling.
Egged on by the “Paparazzi” hosts to expound on her love life wish, Soledad coyly replied: “Basta sana maging masaya.”

Filipinos & Anti-child abuse advocates sa New York nag rally against 'Willing Willie child case'!

Ang kontrobersiya ay umabot na hanggang Amerika!

MANHATTAN, New York-Anti-child abuse advocates condemned a video of a child doing a male stripper dance in a popular Philippine TV show.
In  a rally to push for tougher laws to punish child abuse  in New York Sunday, members of the Guardian Angels, unarmed citizen crime patrollers said the video is very upsetting and disturbing.
Andrew Rodney said, “This child , dancing like in a perverse way, coerced,  with an audience seeing this happen—these people should definitely be reprimanded and stopped.”

Producer andTV host Dave Brodsky said, “I saw that, and it’s child abuse, you’re exploiting a little kid for your own purposes, for television, for entertainment purposes, It’s not entertainment, child abuse is pathetic.”
Nineteen year-old Genna Rae Basalatan was a one of the dancers when Wowowee came to Atlantic City, New Jersey 3 years ago, but after seeing Janjan’s controversial video, she said she will never dance for Willie again. “I actually feel disgusted that I actually danced on that show.”
The father of 12 year old Nina Sophia Mojares– an aspiring artist says–what happened to that young boy was exploitation.
Mojares said, “Would I let my six year old son do that? I do have a 6 year old son, I wouldn’t.”
“If you don’t like what somebody is doing, contact the advertisers, boycott the advertisers, they’ll pull their advertising, No TV show,” said Brodsky.

Advocates gathered in New York yesterday to call on to President Obama and Congress to push for harsher penalties for child abusers.
Rosey Morrisroe, Founder of the Nixzmary Brown Law Campaign said, “Our proposal is, that if you abuse a child, you murder a child, or you molest a child, one time, one strike and you’re out .”
Some parents at the rally also condemned the boy’s parents for consenting and allowing their child to be exploited on national TV, these advocates say the boy’s parents should get some child abuse awareness seminar and counselling .

ABS-CBN denies perpetrating Demolition Job against Willie Revillame!

ABS-CBN has denied any involvement in the provocation of various violent reactions and investigation on Willie Revillame and his program on TV5. Willie’s camp, particularly his legal counsel Atty. Leonard De Vera, insinuated that the Kapamilya network started the big controversy regarding the episode in Willing Willie wherein a young boy danced ‘ala-macho dancer’ and given a ten thousand peso prize, now perceived by different sectors as child abuse.

The official statement released last April 13 by Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications, reads, "We categorically deny that ABS-CBN has anything to do with the Jan-Jan episode. Records speak for itself. We are not a complainant in this case, and have not made any public statement about it.

Indeed, it is incredible that ABS-CBN, as insinuated by Atty. Leonard De Vera, can possibly have control over the countless groups and individuals who have expressed their indignation over the issue, including Facebook, Twitter, major advertisers, government bodies, the church, academic communities, among others.

It is a general accusation bereft of any details and is obviously meant to divert the issue by dragging ABS-CBN's name."

Willie has decided to temporarily pull out his show from airing while the incident is being investigated by numerous agencies which include the Movie and Television Ratings and Classification Board (MTRCB), the Commission on Human Rights, and the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcasters sa Pilipinas (KBP). Shalani Soledad umaasang babalik si Willie Revillame sa 'Willing Willie'!

Valenzuela City councilor Shalani Soledad on Monday expressed her support for controversial host Willie Revillame.

Revillame has drawn flak from Social Welfare Secretary Dinky Soliman, Commission on Human Rights chief Loretta Ann Rosales, fellow performers and citizens due to an alleged child abuse incident in his show "Willing Willie" involving a 6-year-old boy, "Jan-jan" who did a "lewd" dance in exchange for P10,000.

In an interview, Soledad said she supports Revillame all the way, and hopes that the latter will still continue to help Filipinos by going back to his show.

After major advertisers pulled out from "Willie Willie," Revillame announced last Friday that he would take a 2-week break and think about whether to return to the show.

He vehemently denied abusing "Jan-jan," saying that he is the one helping the boy and his family by giving them what they need: money.

Soledad also appealed to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to fully investigate the incident before making a judgment on whether to impose sanctions.

She also shared that her wish for her upcoming birthday on April 27 is for "Willing Willie" to return on air.

The former girlfriend of President Aquino said she will be focusing on the needs of her constituents in Valenzuela City, now that "Willing Willie" will be taking a break.

The MTRCB is currently investigating the alleged child abuse incident. -- report from Jay Ruiz.

MTRCB probes 'Willing Willie' incident!

MANILA, Philippines - The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) is conducting a preliminary investigation on an incident involving a 6-year-old-boy's "macho-dancing routine" on television show "Willing Willie."

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, MTRCB chairperson Grace Poe-Llamanzares said a committee has been formed and it commenced its first hearing, which is open to the public, on Monday afternoon.

"Lahat po ng mga concerned citizens, groups na gustong makinig o kung anuman iyon, ay dito lamang sa general area ng opisinang ito," she said.

She said the committee has also invited representatives from TV5 network to participate in the proceedings.

The media, however, would not be allowed to cover the proceedings as it may "hamper the spontaneity of the people inside especially when they're playing for the camera."

"We have to respect, I guess, their right to privacy at some point," Poe-Llamanzares added.

The MTRCB chair said the hearing might last for 2 weeks as all personalities involved in the incident must be given time to be heard.

"Usually, adjudication lasts for about an hour or less but in this particular case, we have to present the opinions of several experts in the field of child care or child rearing. It might drag longer than an hour," she said.

"It can last for that long (2 weeks). That's why, if ever we come up with a statement, or kung may statement man mamaya, maaring preliminary lang muna," she added.

Poe-Llamanzares assured that MTRCB would keep the public posted through its official website.

"Maglalabas kami ng bulletin palagi, maglalabas tayo ng kung anuman ang nangyayari sa proceedings," she said.

Host Willie Revillame and his show on TV5 have drawn heavy criticisms after they showed 6-year-old Jan-Jan gyrating and impersonating the body movements of a macho dancer in exchange for P10,000.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development and several other organizations, including the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and UNICEF Philippines, have said it was child abuse and exploitation.

Amid the criticisms, Revillame’s camp and TV5 issued a public apology but they denied the allegations of child abuse and exploitation.

A party-list representative has already called for a congressional inquiry into the incident.

Thousands of people supported Online Petition & Facebook Page against Willie Revillame Child Abuse!

Thousands of people supported the Online Petition & Facebook Page against Willie Revillame Child Abuse case!
As we wiriting this article, more than 2,219 people signed the online petition against Willing Willie & Willie Revillame.
This is the letter from the Online Petition:

Hon. Loretta Ann P. Rosales, Chairperson, Commission on Human Rights
Sen. Pia S. Cayetano, Committee Chair, Youth, Women and Family Affairs
Hon. Corazon "Dinky" Juliano-Soliman, Secretary, Department of Social Welfare and Development
Hon. Grace Poe Llamanzares, Chairman, Movies and Television Ratings and Classification Board
Mr. Manny Pangilinan, Chairman, TV5
Justice Santiago M. Kapunan, Officer in Charge, Integrated Bar of The Philippines
Mr. John Rojo, President, Philippine Association of National Advertisers
Ms. Charmaine Canillas, Chairman, AdBoard
SUBJECT: CHILD ABUSE ON WILLING WILLIE SHOW OF TV5
We wish to bring to your attention a deplorable incident that occurred during the March 12, 2011 episode of Willing Willie hosted by Mr. Willie Revillame which is aired during TV5's primetime block. In the said episode, also posted on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YRCxh9q64w, a six-year-old boy named Jan-jan was shown dancing “ala-macho dancer," much to the delight of the host and the studio audience. As seen in the video, however, the boy was clearly distressed and humiliated by the said experience as evidenced by his crying while supposedly “entertaining” Mr. Revillame and his audience.
Children should be at school studying or playing at home. They should not be used as cheap entertainment. The act of making children work is already unfortunate, but the said act is made even more deplorable when in doing so they lose their dignity and self respect.
If TV shows that employ child actors are required to secure the necessary permits from the DSWD, are reality shows like Willing Willie required to do the same? Are representatives from the DSWD present to monitor these activities, especially for shows that air live?
We quote Article V, Section 9 of Republic Act No. 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act:
“Obscene Publications and Indecent Shows. – Any person who shall hire, employ, use, persuade, induce or coerce a child to perform in obscene exhibitions and indecent shows, whether live or in video, or model in obscene publications or pornographic materials or to sell or distribute the said materials shall suffer the penalty of prison mayor in its medium period.
If the child used as a performer, subject or seller/distributor is below twelve (12) years of age, the penalty shall be imposed in its maximum period.
Any ascendant, guardian, or person entrusted in any capacity with the care of a child who shall cause and/or allow such child to be employed or to participate in an obscene play, scene, act, movie or show or in any other acts covered by this section shall suffer the penalty of prison mayor in its medium period.”
Clearly, what transpired during this episode of Willing Willie was a violation of this provision of the law.
We condemn the blatant act of subjecting poor Filipinos -- especially minors, a group that history has shown to be one of the most vulnerable sectors of our society -- to humiliation in shows like these in exchange for some quick cash. Given the financial hardships that they have to endure, they often feel forced to do acts that violate their dignity as human beings in exchange for keeping body and soul together.
We condemn the host, not only for failing to stop the boy who was clearly uncomfortable with what he had to do, but more importantly for milking similar situations for the sake of selling the show and increasing its ratings.
We condemn the producers of the show and the management of TV5 not only for failing to act appropriately on this incident, but also for tolerating these kinds of shows, as well as the host's tasteless and humiliating antics.
We express disappointment towards the parents of the boy for subjecting their child to this horrible experience.
We express concern for the studio audience and others at home who found this incident amusing and entertaining. We express disappointment towards all the advertisers of the show for failing to consider the content and the values of the shows in which they advertise.
We challenge our government agencies, particularly the DSWD and the MTRCB, to act promptly on this and other similar incidents, and to institute measures to protect young children when they appear on Willing Willie and similar shows.
In this regard, we would like to request the following actions from your office:
1. For Mr. Manny Pangilinan and the management of TV5 to immediately implement a temporary moratorium on the guesting of children on Willing Willie and similar shows;
2. For Mr. Willie Revillame and the producers of the show to issue a public apology to Jan-jan and all their other guests whom they have humiliated in the past, and to promise never to commit the same in their future episodes;
3. For the MTRCB to conduct an investigation and review of the said episode to determine the violations made by the host and the producers of the show of the standards and regulations set by law and the Board, and impose corresponding penalties on those found guilty;
4. For the DSWD and the CHR to conduct an investigation into the said incident to determine the violations committed by the host, the producers and the management of TV5 of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act and Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004, and initiate legal action against those who will be found responsible; 1. For the DSWD and the MTRCB, in partnership with the TV networks in the country, to formulate regulations that will cover the appearance of children on game shows and other reality-TV themed shows, especially those that are aired live;
5. For the Committee on Youth, Women and Family Affairs of the Senate to conduct an investigation, in aid of legislation, to institute amendments to Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act and Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 to protect children from similar violations;
6. For the DSWD to provide counselling to Janjan and to all other children who participated on the show in the past for possible trauma and other physiological distress, as well as to their parents who consider subjecting their children to such experience as acceptable;
7. For the Integrated Bar of the Philippines to provide legal support to the victims of these abuses who may want to pursue legal action against those who will be found responsible by the relevant government agencies; and
8. For the Philippine Association of National Advertisers and AdBoard to forward this complaint to all their members, especially those who advertise on Willing Willie, and to request their members to temporarily cease placing ads on the show until the host, the producer and the management hav complied with this request and instituted reforms to avoid a repeat of this incident in the future. Otherwise, we will be constrained to start a call to boycott the products of those who will refuse to heed this request. We are expecting a prompt reply and action on your part. We will be continuously monitoring this issue and will continue to gather support from the general public through a Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Para-kay-Jan-jan-Shame-on-you-Willie-Revillame/102087546543288) we have started, as well as the mainstream media.

Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) suspended their Ad placement from Willing Willie!; ADS BOYCOTT!

BOYCOTT!

This is Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) statement from their Official Facebook Page:
