It's Showtime faces another controversy over 'Fliptop'! (VIDEO)

It’s Showtime is on the hot seat once again! During the Sine Mo To segment hosts Vice Ganda and Jhong Hilario went to the audience to look for a participant.
The two were able to find two teenagers who can do Flip Top or freestyle rapping.

To be fair with the hosts, the two audience members were reminded not to use obscene words.

Watch the video here:

The first participant then went on to rap:

"Fliptop ka nang Fliptop, wala ka namang laptop. Ito piso, pambili ng lollipop."

Then the unexpected happened.

"Di ka naman marunong mag-fliptop, ala ka pa laptop, ISUBO MO NA LANG T--- ko, gawin mong lollipop."

The studio became very silent after the incident, while Vice Ganda reprimanded the second contestant.

“Sinabi ko nang walang bad words!".

Then he was escorted outside.

The hosts then issued an apology after they returned from a commercial break.
For the moment, the MTRCB has yet to take action on the said incident.

ABS-CBN denies perpetrating Demolition Job against Willie Revillame!

ABS-CBN has denied any involvement in the provocation of various violent reactions and investigation on Willie Revillame and his program on TV5. Willie’s camp, particularly his legal counsel Atty. Leonard De Vera, insinuated that the Kapamilya network started the big controversy regarding the episode in Willing Willie wherein a young boy danced ‘ala-macho dancer’ and given a ten thousand peso prize, now perceived by different sectors as child abuse.

The official statement released last April 13 by Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications, reads, "We categorically deny that ABS-CBN has anything to do with the Jan-Jan episode. Records speak for itself. We are not a complainant in this case, and have not made any public statement about it.

Indeed, it is incredible that ABS-CBN, as insinuated by Atty. Leonard De Vera, can possibly have control over the countless groups and individuals who have expressed their indignation over the issue, including Facebook, Twitter, major advertisers, government bodies, the church, academic communities, among others.

It is a general accusation bereft of any details and is obviously meant to divert the issue by dragging ABS-CBN's name."

Willie has decided to temporarily pull out his show from airing while the incident is being investigated by numerous agencies which include the Movie and Television Ratings and Classification Board (MTRCB), the Commission on Human Rights, and the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcasters sa Pilipinas (KBP). MTRCB probes 'Willing Willie' incident!

MANILA, Philippines - The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) is conducting a preliminary investigation on an incident involving a 6-year-old-boy's "macho-dancing routine" on television show "Willing Willie."

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, MTRCB chairperson Grace Poe-Llamanzares said a committee has been formed and it commenced its first hearing, which is open to the public, on Monday afternoon.

"Lahat po ng mga concerned citizens, groups na gustong makinig o kung anuman iyon, ay dito lamang sa general area ng opisinang ito," she said.

She said the committee has also invited representatives from TV5 network to participate in the proceedings.

The media, however, would not be allowed to cover the proceedings as it may "hamper the spontaneity of the people inside especially when they're playing for the camera."

"We have to respect, I guess, their right to privacy at some point," Poe-Llamanzares added.

The MTRCB chair said the hearing might last for 2 weeks as all personalities involved in the incident must be given time to be heard.

"Usually, adjudication lasts for about an hour or less but in this particular case, we have to present the opinions of several experts in the field of child care or child rearing. It might drag longer than an hour," she said.

"It can last for that long (2 weeks). That's why, if ever we come up with a statement, or kung may statement man mamaya, maaring preliminary lang muna," she added.

Poe-Llamanzares assured that MTRCB would keep the public posted through its official website.

"Maglalabas kami ng bulletin palagi, maglalabas tayo ng kung anuman ang nangyayari sa proceedings," she said.

Host Willie Revillame and his show on TV5 have drawn heavy criticisms after they showed 6-year-old Jan-Jan gyrating and impersonating the body movements of a macho dancer in exchange for P10,000.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development and several other organizations, including the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and UNICEF Philippines, have said it was child abuse and exploitation.

Amid the criticisms, Revillame’s camp and TV5 issued a public apology but they denied the allegations of child abuse and exploitation.

A party-list representative has already called for a congressional inquiry into the incident.

DSWD condemns 'humiliation' of 6-year-old boy on Willing Willie; TV5, Revillame apologize!

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Monday "condemned" the “emotional abuse and humiliation” it said was inflicted on a six-year-old boy in an episode of Willing Willie, even as Willie Revillame and TV5 apologized for the episode.

In the said episode dated March 12, the show’s contestant, Jan-jan, was in tears as he gyrated on stage to Snoop Dog’s, “The Next Episode” during the Wiltime Bigtime segment of the program.  The boy’s performance was egged on with cheers and laughter from the audience and Revillame, and also by the approving presence of his aunt, Josie, who accompanied Jan-Jan on the show.

“Umiiyak pa yan! (And he's even crying!)” an amused Revillame said.
“Ganyan na ho ang hirap ng buhay ng tao...siyempre nagsasayaw siya bilang macho dancer sa edad nyang ‘yan para sa mahal niyang pamilya (That’s how tough life is. He’s a macho dancer at this age all for the love of his family) ,” Revillame said, laughing.

Jan-jan was given P10,000 by Revillame after his appearance on the show. His aunt also was given P3,000.
According to the DSWD, the show violated Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act as well as a manifestation of child abuse.  Under the law, “psychological and physical abuse, neglect, cruelty, sexual abuse and emotional maltreatment,” and “any act by deeds or words which debases, degrades or demeans the intrinsic worth and dignity of the child as a human being,” are included in the acts of child abuse.

The DSWD also rebuked the “insensitive actions and remarks” of Revillame.
“Putting pressure on children to do acts such as mimicking adult sexy dances, in exchange for a certain amount of money, and at the expense of being laughed at and ridiculed by hundreds of people, clearly traumatizes the child. This is a clear form of child abuse and will not be tolerated,” the DSWD said in a statement .

The DSWD said they have asked ABC Development Communication Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan to prohibit children from appearing in shows like Willing Willie. The department is currently seeking Jan-jan’s family to determine whether the boy needs counselling or stress debriefing.

TV5 and Revillame issued an apology on Monday for the incident.
"We wish to stress that there was never any intention to humiliate or abuse Jan-Jan or any contestant on the show," the statement read.

According to the statement, Jan-jan was in tears, "not because he was being forced to dance, but because he felt the dance was 'serious' and he was playing a role."

It added: "He did not want to smile because of his missing upper front teeth and because of the presence on the set of former basketball player Bonel Balingit who Jan-jan thought was a scary 'giant'."

Video of the controversial episode with Jan-Jan has been circulating on the web and social media sites, and Revillame has caught the ire of the blogosphere for the said incident. Bloggers have hit Revillame for "humiliating" the boy in front of millions of Filipinos.  At least one online petition is calling for the attention of the Commission on Human Rights. There have also been open letters addressed to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.

Willie Revillame, TV5 apologize for Jan-Jan episode!

Mr. Willie Revillame, the producers of "Willing Willie" and TV5 sincerely and deeply apologize for the segment of the show featuring 6-year-old Jan-Jan Suan which viewers may have found offensive or in bad taste.  We wish to stress that there was never any intention to humiliate or abuse Jan-Jan or any contestant on the show.

"Willing Willie" is a program that was conceptualized to bring joy and hope and shine the spotlight on ordinary Filipinos.  The program aims to provide a venue for everyone to show their talents, tell their stories and make their dreams come true. This is the thrust of everyone involved in the program, particularly its host, Willie Revillame.

Like most contestants on the show, Jan-Jan, accompanied by his aunt, joined the program to showcase his talent and play in a game segment in the hope of bringing home big prizes.  He has performed in the past in school programs and mall contests, and his performance in "Willing Willie" was completely voluntary and with the blessings of his parents.

He appeared to be sad or even in tears, not because he was being forced to dance, but because he felt the dance was "serious" and he was playing a role.  He did not want to smile because of his missing upper front teeth and because of the presence on the set of former basketball player Bonel Balingit who Jan-jan thought was a scary "giant".

Again, TV5 and Wil Productions express profound regret for any insensitivity on their part, and wish to thank all those who have expressed concern.  We are always grateful to be reminded of our obligations to the viewing public.  In turn, we hope to make clear that the objective of the show has always been to bring joy and hope to Filipinos, whether they are participating on the show or viewing at home.

DSWD Sec. Soliman Releases a Letter Addressed To TV5 Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan on The Case of Jan-Jan - Willing Willie March 12 Episode!

Startriga got an exclusive copy of the letter and you can read it here below:

28 March 2011

MR. MANNY V. PANGILINAN
Chairman
ABC Development Corporation

Dear Mr. Pangilinan:

This is with regard to the 12 March 2011 episode of your show “Willing Willie”, which was brought to my attention by several concerned citizens and groups. In the said episode, a six year-old boy named Jan-Jan Estrada was made to repeatedly perform dance moves usually done by adult dancers in indecent shows. The poor child was in tears and looked scared the entire time, as show host Willie Revillame poked fun at him and the audience laughed and cheered.

Under Republic Act No. 7610, also known as "Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act”, the term “child abuse” includes the following acts: “psychological and physical abuse, neglect, cruelty, sexual abuse and emotional maltreatment,” and “any act by deeds or words which debases, degrades or demeans the intrinsic worth and dignity of the child as a human being.”

Given that definition, it is unmistakable that what happened last 12 March 2011 to Jan-Jan Estrada was child abuse.

Persuading a little child to dance sexy adult dances in exchange for a measly sum, while he is being laughed at and ridiculed will definitely traumatize the child. What kind of values are we teaching our children through these shows, especially after Willie Revillame pushed Jan-Jan to do something against his will and then told him that it’s alright because he will receive money in exchange for it?

Given the foregoing, I am requesting that:

(1) Young children not be allowed to appear in Willing Willie and other similar shows in the network that cashes in on poverty;
(2) Host Willie Revillame be rebuked for his insensitive and deplorable actions.

There are limits to children appearing on television, and clearly, your 12 March 2011 episode did not respect the rights of the child and traumatized the six year-old boy. I also wish to raise my concern that the show tends to cash in on the plight of the poor. There are other ways of helping the poor without having to degrade their dignity and earn money out of it.

I hope you can act on this swiftly and I would appreciate a response from your good office.

Thank you.

Very truly yours,

 (sgd.)

MTRCB remains firm on 'Showtime' suspension

MTRCB sinuspinde ang SHOWTIME for 20 days suspension dahil kay Osang's harsh comment against teacher!

Posted/Original/Published By: STARtriga.blogspot.com

via ABS-CBNnews.com

MANILA, Philippines - The Movie & Television Review & Classification Board (MTRCB) on Monday placed the ABS-CBN talent show "Showtime" on a 20-day preventive suspension, after an incident involving one of the show's judges.

During a live show last January 7, judge Rosanna Roces made controversial statements against the show's teachers and co-judge Vice Ganda.

In the episode, Roces encouraged students who guested on the show to ask questions from their teachers. She went on to describe teachers as "repeaters."

"Huwag kayo makukuntento sa mga itinuturo ng libro at ng teacher. Kung magtatanong kayo, hindi masama iyon. Dahil ang mga teacher, they were just repeaters. Tinuturo lang nila kung ano ang itinuro sa kanila. Hindi na nila itinuturo kung ano ang gusto malaman ng mga bata," she said.

(If you ask questions, that's not bad. Because teachers, they were just repeaters. They just teach what was taught to them. They don't teach what the children want to know.)

Her co-judge on the show, Vice Ganda, later reminded the audience that there are many teachers who are good at their profession, and that people should not generalize when they criticize the failures of educators.

Osang removed but show still suspended

On January 8, the show then announced that Roces has been removed as a judge of the show, as part of the network's self-regulation.

Despite this, the MTRCB slapped Showtime with a 20-day preventive suspension.

The network will question the need for the preventive suspension of the show, after the removal of Roces as judge.

"A preventive suspension is issued to stop further violations, if there were any committed, or for the interest or welfare of the public. Thus, the network questions the need for said preventive suspension when Rosanna Roces has already been removed from the program," a statement released by the ABS-CBN Corporate Communications department said.

"Showtime is a highly entertaining show watched by many Filipinos. It helps promote and showcase the creativity and talent of kapamilyas nationwide, uplifts their spirit and provides opportunities to improve their lives," it added.

The cast and staff of the show said they were not given any notice of the suspension.

ABS-CBN will file an appeal in court on Tuesday, while a hearing is scheduled on January 14 to let the show air their side of the story on the MTRCB decision.

Teachers commend MTRCB

Meanwhile, the Teachers' Dignity Coalition said that while they are "saddened" by the suspension of the top-rating show, they commend the swift action by the MTRCB on Roces's infraction.

"While we are saddened by the the suspension of ABS-CBN's top rating show, Showtime, and we sympathize with the production staff & hosts of said program, we commend MTRCB's swift action on derogatory & condemnable remarks made by Rosanna Roces to teachers in its segment aired last January 7," a statement from Benjo Basas, TDC chair, said.

"We urge TV personalities to be sensitive to the different sectors and to general public in their entrtainment. This is no different frm racist comments against Filipinos in shows & papers abroad," it said.

Meanwhile, a new show, entitled "Magpasikat," will temporarily replace Showtime in its noon timeslot starting Tuesday. With a report from Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News

MTRCB pinagalitan at Binantaan ang GMA7 dahil sa pagpapakita of how to use Marijuana on a Teleserye; Sexy costume ng ‘Darna’ binabantayan ng MTRCB

Published/Posted/Original/ By: www.STARtriga.blogspot.com
