Ryan Bang wants Vice Ganda to be his Leading Lady!
Ryan Bang said that his reward to himself this Christmas season is a trip to South Korea to spend quality time with his parents. He said that he intended to fly there before Christmas, but will be back in the country before New Year. “Ngayon meron giyera dyan ‘di ba, so pinaka-cheap ‘yung airplane,” he began referring to the ongoing tension ensuing between the North and South Korea. “Five years ‘di ako nakita tatay ko. It’s my chance to see my dad, sobrang excite (sic) nga po miss na ako tatay ko,” he explained in broken Tagalog-English.
He shared that his folks have no idea how popular he is becoming in the Philippines and that they only get to watch him on Showtime as a guest judge. “They are happy because they watch Showtime, eh. And then people are happy because of me, the madlang people. So my parents are very proud. ‘Ryan, you make people happy, I’m very proud of you,’” he related the conversation he had with his parents.
On a personal note, Ryan said that it feels amazing that he is able to make people laugh. “People are happy because of you. Very masaya. People told me, ‘Ryan, after work pagod na ako, but when I watch you, I’m happy, very masaya.’ I love it!”
He said further that it is not much effort on his part to be funny because he is just being himself. “In acting, I have to change myself pero me, I have to be myself (in comedy). No need to prepare. Just be myself, Ryan Bang, so people are happy. Walang pressure. Showtime ganun din, sobrang enjoy ako.”
The former Pinoy Big Brother housemate said that he has no acting offer yet for next year, but would definitely want to try comedy acting. “Syempre gusto ko comedy, parang Vice Ganda. Sobrang happy ‘yon. Petrang Kabayo, gusto ko ganun-ganun comedy. I want to make people happy. Kasi hindi ako gwapo hindi ko kaya [dramatic] actor,” he explained.
Asked who he wants to be his leading lady if he gets an acting project, Ryan quipped, “Vice Ganda.” He justified that he looks up to Vice because of his flair for comedy.
When asked for his wish for himself in 2011, the Korean charmer replied, “Sana mas guwapo next year. Ha-ha-ha. Kasi mukha ako parang wacky, funny. Joke lang! Sana mas masaya, sana mas marami people, madlang people happy because of me. If madlang people happy, I’m also happy. Hindi ako nagsisinungaling ‘yon, totoo ‘yon.”

Ryan Bang is overwhelmed to get another big break on new teen show 'Shout Out'!
As one of the most successful faces from Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash of 2010, Ryan Bang has his hands full with tapings for shows like Showtime, Banana Split, and 30w POwhz. Starting next week, the young comedian will also be seen on the new teen-variety show program Shout Out! which airs on November 29, Monday. The 19-year-old Korean admitted he didn’t expect to get another choice project so soon in his showbiz career. “I really don’t understand why they got me. They’re all handsome and beautiful [on the show], a very nice group. I really don’t get it. I’m just a comedian. Actually I’m very happy to be part of Shout Out!, but I really don’t understand why they got me. Maybe they have comedy game, that’s why they got me,” he humbly said. The show also features Erich Gonzales, Enchong Dee, Arron Villaflor, Empress, and Sam Concepcion as its main hosts as well as other PBB Teen housemates. “Of course I’m so happy to be working with them. I’m always happy. My best friend is James (Reid), Bret (Jackson), Ivan (Dorschner), everyone. But especially James and Bret because I thought I was the number one laziest person in the world but no, they’re more lazy then me so I like them, (laughs)” he said.
With his career on the rise, Ryan said he doesn’t allow his rising popularity to get to his ego. “I feel very good. I’m following the flow. I don’t think about it too much. I don’t know yet what I will do in Shout Out! I just know I just go with the flow and be happy,” he admitted. Aside from honing his skills in comedy, Ryan shared that he looks forward to also getting the chance to do more singing and dancing in Shout Out! Ryan also downplayed the issue that even though he did not win the grand prize in PBB, he still became the most popular teen housemate. “Everyone says that, everyone has opinion. But maybe it’s because I’m not handsome, I’m a comedian so no need workshop. Everyone knows that. Actually I can just go. But them, they’re handsome, they need a lot of workshop. They need to learn acting. I’m not handsome that’s why people like me. I’m just myself. Just being natural,” he insisted.

"30w P0whz!" ang Bagong Programa ni Ryan Bang sa Studio 23! Watch it Every Monday!

Viewers first knew him as the charismatic and well-loved teen housemate on Pinoy Big Brother, but now Ryan Bang (born Bang Hyun Sung) gets a big break via the new Studio 23 show 30w POwhz! (a play on jejemon speak which basically means ‘Hello po!’). Having come to study in the country for a few years now, Ryan says he has a Filipino heart. With his new show, the 19-year-old student admits he is excited about immersing himself in Filipino culture and explore more of the country he is now proud to call his home. “I’m very happy because I’ve been living in the Philippines for five years now and I am a happy person so I have a chance to make people happy. I like comedy. I feel very comfortable now,” he admitted during the Studio 23 presscon launch for his new show. The Seoul-born teen says his family is also very supportive of his newfound career. “My parents are now in Korea but they went here for Big Night. They’re very happy for me. My mom and my dad are very happy right now,” he added.
Although currently busy taping episodes for 30w POwhz!, Ryan admits he is learning a lot and having a lot of fun at the same time. One of the first episodes will feature his first time to ride an ordinary bus down EDSA while he records his adventure with his own video camera. “It is very fun. We went to Balintawak. I ride the bus. I shop. It was my first time. So many people. The bus was very fast. Even faster than a taxi! It was also cool because the driver was going very fast so the air is very cold. I didn’t know it can be cold in Manila. I like very much!” he says. The natural comedian, who is also seen on daily on Showtime and Banana Split is very excited about all the adventures in store for him in the show. “I’ll do comedy. I will go to places and talk to people, learn the culture, and have fun. I hope people will understand my English and Tagalog. I will go around here in the Philippines. Make experiences, be natural. I’ll go anywhere kasi hindi ako alam ‘di ba? I go around, ride the bus, tricycle, like Philippine style. I’ll go eat with them, play something, just like natural. I’ll talk to people like friends. I really like it. Just be natural. I hope people will be happy. 30w Pohwz is like a comedy show, I’ll go around, have fun. I like comedy,” he said. A cooking challenge on the show even has the former teen housemate cooking adobo and bopis. “I love how Filipinos cook. I cook, so that’s why hindi masarap (laughs). Pero okay lang. This is a very big experience, that’s why I like,” he said.
Catch 30w P0whz! as it airs every Monday, 9:30 pm on Studio 23.
