MANILA, Philippines - Actor Coco Martin reacted to talks saying that he is now the favorite leading man of ABS-CBN.
In an interview with "The Buzz," Martin said he does not believe that he is now the station's favorite male star.
Martin is set to star in his first lead role in a series in "Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin" which will premiere on Monday (March 7) after "Mara Clara."
He believes that maybe the network management just saw his dedication to his work as an actor.
"Hindi naman po siguro. Nagkataon lang po siguro na kumbaga, nagampanan ko ng maayos ang mga role ko sa nakaraang soap opera na ginawa ko. At siguro nabigyan lang po siguro ako ng oportunidad at nakitaan ako ng potential kaya nagkakataon na magaganda ang proyekto ko at nakakasama ko ang magagaling na artista," Martin said.
Before taking the lead role for "Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin," Martin showed his acting prowess in the hit soaps "Tayong Dalawa" and "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo," with Gerald Anderson and Kim Chiu as the lead stars.
Martin has always keep his feet on the ground and said that he's really thankful for the newest blessing.

Sobrang excited ang aspiring actor na si Matteo Guidicelli sa kanyang upcoming movie with Sarah Geronimo at Gerald Anderson, ang Catch Me, I’m In Love na magbubukas sa mga sinehan this March 23. Ito kasi ang first-ever movie ni Matteo. “That’s why I’m so thankful sa Star Cinema tapos makatabaho mo si Sarah at Gerald dito, it’s a wonderful blessing and a dream come true,” anang aktor sa The Buzz kahapon.
Ang role ni Matteo sa nasabing pelikula ay best-friend ni Sarah at magiging karibal ni Gerald. Ikinukumpara nga ngayon si Matteo kay Gerald at sinabing siya ang threat sa action-drama prince. Pero paliwanag ni Matteo, “Gerald has his own magic, he is a great person, great actor, great performer and ayokong mag-compete sa kanya. He’s really good at what he does, he’s really cool.”

Gustuhin man daw niyang sagutin na sana nga ay in love siya ngayon, sinabi ni Gerald Anderson sa The Buzz na single siya. “How much na gusto kong sagutin na yes but sa ngayon, I’ll wait for the right time, ‘pag andyan siya. We’ll see but sa ngayon, no (I’m not in love). There’s nothing to keep quiet (about). Sa ngayon no po,” paglilinaw ng action drama prince. Pero naging mabilis ang sagot ni Gerald na handa na raw siyang ma-in love.

ABS-CBN's Biggest Teleserye this 2011 'Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin' Premieres March 7, 2011 Worldwide!

A rare kind of drama, romance and action will be shown on TV beginning March 7 when "Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin" premieres on ABS-CBN's prime time block.
The new teleserye features a formidable cast: Coco Martin, Andi Eigenmann, Maja Salvador, Tonton Gutierrez, John Estrada, Ronaldo Valdez, Boots Anson-Roa, Amy Austria and Lorna Tolentino.
Coco Martin will tackle his biggest break to date in this series.
“Sundalo ako dito at tulisan. Dalawang magkaibang karakter po,” Martin shared, and added that this is his most challenging character ever.
“Sinusubukan po talaga ng mga karakter na gagampanan ko 'yung kakayahan ko. Magkaiba po kasi talaga 'yung personalidad nung dalawang characters,” he said.
Martin will have two beautiful leading ladies, Eigenmann and Salvador.
“Grabe 'yung role ko dito. Lahat ng training na pinagdaanan ng mga sundalong lalaki, ginawa ko rin. This is the toughest role I have ever portrayed,” Eigenmann said.
Salvador, meanwhile, revealed she enjoys her unique character in the series.
“NPA ako dito eh. Sa masukal na kagubatan kami nakatira. Ang saya. Kasi 'yung mga bagay na 'di ko pa nararanasan sa totoong buhay, at least may pagkakataon akong ma-experience sa pamamagitan ng seryeng ito,” she said.
Lorna Tolentino, on the other hand, said this could probably the hardest role she would ever portray.
"Hindi harder ang role ko. This is the hardest na ginawa ko sa career ko," she said.
The veteran actress will play the role of a mentally imbalanced wife of a military official.
In the series, Tolentino will face off with award-winning actress Amy Austria, who was persuaded by Tolentino to act again.
Austria has stopped acting for a while, considering herself "retired".
Tolentino and Austria have been close friends since they worked together in the film “Dulce Amor Ina” in the 1970s.
Other Kapamilya artists are also slated to appear in the series: Kim Chiu, Erich Gonzales, Xian Lim, Agot Isidro, Albert Martinez and Angel Aquino.
“Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin”, directed by Ruel Bayani, tackles two worlds, that of soldiers and that of bandits, and shows how these differences will link two opposite poles. The story delves on love, family and conviction to one's principles.

Enchong Dee Admits Dating a Kapamilya Star!

After months of keeping mum about his love life, Enchong Dee finally confirmed that he’s dating a fellow Kapamilya star. But he still refused to disclose the identity of the special girl in his life for fear that showbiz intrigues might ruin the happiness they have right now. “Nagflo-float [ang love life ko] pero uunahan ko na kayo kasi kung tatanungin niyo kung sino, hindi ko siyempre sasabihin, pero masaya ako ngayon. Taga-showbiz siya and Kapamilya siyempre. Siguro masayado ko nabuhos yung sarili ko sa trabaho na minsan kapag nababakante ka, parang ang lungkot mo naman na mag-isa ka lang ‘di ba? Ngayon ko lang na-realize na there’s always time for everything,” said Enchong who was officially launched as a new Jollibee endorser at the Great Float Fair in Trinoma Mall last March 3.
Although there were persistent rumors that he’s dating Kim Chiu, Enchong denied that she’s the one who’s keeping him inspired nowadays. “Malapit kaming magkaibigan ni Kim. Lumalabas kami minsan, pero as friends. Sabi ko nga napakaswerte ko naman talaga dahil bibihira na lang kami magkita ni Kim, bibihira na lang kaming lumabas, kapag nakikita pa, nai-issue pa, kahit grupo kami. So uunahan ko na wala talaga. We’re very good friends. Oo, dati may admiration [ako para sa kanya], kasi ‘di ba sabi ko nga, tanungin mo kahit sinong lalaki kung may gusto sila kay Kim, lahat yun sasabihin may admiration so I’m just one of them.”
Enchong further explained that he had to open up a bit about his love life to clear the names of all the girls who are romantically linked to him including Bianca Manalo and Erich Gonzales. “Wala, parati na lang siya (Bianca), kawawa naman. Kasi parang nadadawit si Kim, nadadawit si Erich, parang ang daming nadadawit. Para hindi sila maisama [kailangan kong sabihin na merong iba]. Para kumbaga may sariling buhay sila, ‘wag na natin silang guluhin. Huwag na ihalo yung kay Enchong. Sabi ko nga sa mga fans ko, hindi naman namin ever sinabi ni Erich na we’re together. We’re very good friends and we always support each other.”

Another director has opted out of “Party Pilipinas.”
Director Rico Gutierrez, who formed part of the replacement team that took over the post that director Louie Ignacio vacated last year, has allegedly submitted his resignation papers to GMA SVP for Entertainment Wilma Galvante Thursday.
The report, published by Journal Online, confirmed Galvante's acceptance of the resignation but didn’t detail the reason for the move.
Prior to this, Gutierrez, via Twitter, announced that he will take a much-needed vacation from the show owing to a commitment concerning the musical “Wazak: A Love Story.”
It turned out that Gutierrez was actually intending for a permanent vacation. And although GMA is still mum on the matter as of this writing, many believe that Reyes will continue directing the show by his lonesome in the interim.
That said, Reyes' tenure on the show is also being speculated upon by many given the rumors that he'll be transferring to TV5 soon to helm the made-for-TV remake of “Bagets.”
Ignacio resigned from the show April of last year, citing stress among other reasons. A few days prior to his resignation, Ignacio was said to have also insinuated on wanting to go on a vacation -- which he got when GMA executives accepted his decision.
Speculations on the real reason for his doing so abound –with some deeming it the result of a “vendetta” of sorts. Ignacio himself confirmed this in subsequent interviews.
“There are many who are terribly envious of me,” he said in Filipino. “And they aren’t just ordinary people but other directors eager to helm ‘Party Pilipinas,’" he added without giving out names.
More than his perceived enemies from within the halls of the Kapuso network, the director lamented the lack of professionalism of some of the show’s hosts.
“They don’t want to rehearse. How could we make the show better [if they wouldn’t]? Not many know this, but it’s always the director who’s blamed for a show’s failings. Therein lies the mix-up.”
“Party Pilipinas,” started airing March of last year replacing “SOP: Fully Charged.” Janno Gibbs, Jaya, Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez host the show.

“There are many who are terribly envious of me,” he said in Filipino. “And they aren’t just ordinary people but other directors eager to helm ‘Party Pilipinas,’" he added without giving out names.
More than his perceived enemies from within the halls of the Kapuso network, the director lamented the lack of professionalism of some of the show’s hosts.
“They don’t want to rehearse. How could we make the show better [if they wouldn’t]? Not many know this, but it’s always the director who’s blamed for a show’s failings. Therein lies the mix-up.”
“Party Pilipinas,” started airing March of last year replacing “SOP: Fully Charged.” Janno Gibbs, Jaya, Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez host the show.

'Willing Willie' and Willie Revillame made it to the Wall Street Journal!

The full-page story in The Wall Street Journal’s latest issue on how Willie Revillame (bottom, with co-host Shalani Soledad) and his show Willing Willie has drastically changed the advertising game in Philippine television.
From the tabs, Willie Revillame has made a dramatic leap to the international media via an article titled ‘Willing Willie’ jolts Philippine TV in the latest issue of The Wall Street Journal.
Subtitled “Popular host’s departure from big network for upstart channel sparks lawsuits and shakes up advertising market,” the story quoted a Nielsen Co. data noting that “with nearly $4 billion in spending last year, the Philippine TV market is bigger than India’s and on par with Indonesia’s” and it’s because “while newspapers take up the bulk of advertising in India, TV eats up about 75 percent of ad spending in the Philippines and draws buyers from around the world” presumably because of the two top network’s relay stations abroad, ABS-CBN’s TFC (The Filipino Channel), and GMA’s Pinoy TV (in some places) and GMA Life (in other places).
The story pointed out that until “Mr. Revillame (pronounced reh-vil-YA-meh) defected to TV5, the Philippine TV market was dominated by ABS-CBN (Willie’s former home channel. — RFL), which had P24 billion ($554 million) in revenue in 2009, and GMA Network Inc.,” adding that after Willie took his show (retitled Willing Willie from Wowowee) to TV5, he perhaps unwittingly acted as Pied Pier and prompted other stars from other channels to follow suit.
According to The Wall Street Journal, while GMA remains the No. 1 channel, “in the fourth quarter TV5 grabbed 29 percent of the weekend primetime audience in the Manila to become No. 12, overtaking ABS-CBN which had 23 percent. GMA sources were quoted as saying that it “welcomes the entry of TV5” and doesn’t see it as a threat in the Manila market. TV5 executive Ray Espinosa was also quoted as saying that TV5 “expects to capture a third of total TV ad spending in the Philippines by 2015, up from 10 percent.”
Meanwhile, Willie is facing yet another TRO (Temporary Restraining Order) case filed against him by ABS-CBN. He has also earlier brought up a “breach of contract” case against his former network.Courtesy: Philstar dot com
