After more than a month of promo and publicity from the casts, director and production people behind Eugene Domingo’s launching starrer ‘Kimmy Dora,’ AccessPinoy will now list the 10 Reasons Why ‘Kimmy Dora’ is a Box Office Hit waiting to happen. Check it out below.

1) Eugene Domingo time to shine is NOW! She’s been a ’sidekick’ in a LOT of movies, and she deserves to have her own. Her talent is oozing and ripe for the picking. Eugene’s portrayal as Kimmy and Dora is superb and believable. And funny, too. Just by looking at Kimmy and Dora, and you’ll start laughing. Could it be Eugene’s face and expression?

2) All hail to the newly labeled ‘Diamond Comedy Queen!’ All the reason people will watch the movie and verify if indeed Eugene Domingo deserves the title.

3) The movie got an ‘A’ rating from the Cinema Evaluation Board, and good raves from the critics. The combination indicates the movie is commercially viable and well-crafted, unlike other Pinoy fares that don’t make sense AT ALL!

4) The plot is interesting and fresh. A business empire, two heirs with differing personalities and passion, and how Kimmy and Dora overcame their differences. Definitely intriguing and unique. Yes, worth watching!

5) Add Dingdong Dantes into the equation as one of the leading men, and girls will definitely line-up and see the movie. With all the publicity surrounding Dingdong, that’ll definitely help lift up the box office receipts of the movie.

6) The movie’s showing in SM Cinemas, so that should add millions into the grosses of the film. With more than 30 theaters nationwide (by our estimate), it can help make the movie a success!

7) Eugene Domingo has the support of both television networks, ABS-CBN and GMA. For a movie to open big, it must bring into its fold solid Kapamilya and Kapuso viewers all at the same time. Eugene’s access to both networks allows her to reach loyal fans of the two channels. Nice strategy!

8) The movie’s directed by Joyce Bernal. Mention her name, and people will line up to see her movie. She’s done it before with hits like ‘Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw’, ‘Till There Was You’, and ‘Don’t Give Up on Us’ to name a few. Even on television, she’s a major player, so there’s no reason to doubt her helming of the film.

9) It’s an indie movie produced by Piolo Pascual and partners. Mention Piolo Pascual + Direk Joyce + Eugene + Dingdong in one sentence and you’d get ‘Kimmy Dora.’ That’s how they’re selling the movie, and people are responding big time. If its premiere night at SM Megamall last Tuesday is any indication, it’ll likely open big, and possibly generate more than P100M for its entire run.

10) Did I mention that AiAi delas Alas recommended ‘Kimmy Dora’ for others to see? That’s a big deal. Eugene and AiAi made a lot of movies together with AiAi as the lead and Eugene as the sidekick. Now, AiAi’s on the sidelines giving her stamp of approval on ‘Kimmy Dora.’ Way to go!

Willie Revillame a no-show at N. Ecija awarding

MANILA - Almost a month after he went on "indefinite leave", controversial TV host Willie Revillame continued to remain elusive and failed to show up at an awards ceremony at his home province of Nueva Ecija.

ABS-CBN learned that Revillame was supposed to receive the Ulirang Novo Ecijana award during the province's 113th year celebration this week. Instead, a woman who identified herself as Revillame's aunt accepted the award on Willie's behalf.

Revillame has been on indefinite leave from his top-rating noontime show "Wowowee" since August 5 after receiving criticism for ordering the removal of a video inset of former president Corazon Aquino's procession on August 3. The video, which showed thousands of Filipinos in mourning for Aquino, was shown simultaneously with "Wowowee."

ABS-CBN management and government censors earlier said they have reached an agreement to extend Willie's leave until Sept. 20, 2009. ABS-CBN also ordered the removal of a sexy dance portion on Wowowee.

Revillame has publicly apologized for his action and offered to resign from the show.

Since going on leave, the popular TV host has appeared in concerts in Davao City and Cagayan de Oro. Both shows were sponsored by Sen. Manny Villar, who is running for president next year.

Meryl Soriano on her dad Willie Revillame: ‘Ang fresh ng itsura niya ngayon’

“I’m a Star Magic Ball virgin,” was what Meryl Soriano said when she was asked how she feels attending the third annual Star Magic Ball. She arrived with Joem Bascon, who obviously was her date but she refused to answer the question if they are an item already. “Hindi. ‘Wag na, walang ganun.”

On the issue regarding her dad Willie Revillame disrespecting President Cory Aquino’s cortege, Meryl believes that her dad is strong enough to get through this controversy and that he just needs time to rest. “Okay naman (siya). Nagpapahinga pa rin siya,” Meryl confirmed. When asked if she sees her dad depressed about the matter, she said, “Hindi naman. He’s getting better. We’ve been talking. He’s okay. I felt sad alam ko na gustong gusto ni Papa gawin yung show, alam niyo naman yun yung passion niya, but it’s also good kasi he’s getting (better). Ang fresh-fresh ng itsura niya ngayon.”

Meryl also feels her dad’s words during the live show were just misinterpreted. “Misunderstanding lang yon kasi he forewarned na hindi dapat ipagsabay. So siyempre nung nag-on air na di ba nga, mali lang rin yung pagkakasabi. But at the same time we cannot (do anything about it), it already happened. He (already) asked for an apology. Okay naman na sa family ng mga Aquino so okay na yun.”

When asked if her dad feels disappointed with ABS-CBN, she just said: “Naku, hindi ko alam, eh. I cannot speak on his behalf kasi siyempre yung ganon di naming pinaguusapan yun.” Meryl also said that she knows that people are already awaiting her dad’s return on Wowowee. “Nami-miss na siya ng mga tao so I guess alam naman niya yun, at least makikita ng mga tao na sobrang refreshed siya.”

John Lloyd Cruz 'Gay Role' is the biggest of his career!

Malaking bahagi na ng kanyang career para John Lloyd Cruz ang ginampanan niyang karakter bilang Noel sa pelikulang In My Life (showing na sa September 16 mula sa Star Cinema) . Sinabi ni Lloydie, dahil sa pelikulang ito, mas nakita niya ang pag-ibig at pagmamahal sa ibang perspective. Sa kanyang solo presscon, ipinaliwanag ni Lloydie sa ABS-CBN.com, "Dito kasi sa takbo ng pelikula, sa karakter ko (bilang Noel), naranasan ko kung paano tingnan sa ibang perspective, sa ibang pinangagalingan. As you can see, the character is gay. So, parang ganoon pala 'yun. Ang tingin ko, ang gay, parangmas passionate magmahal. Parang mas masarap silang magmahal." Kuwento pa ni Lloydie about his karakter na ika nga eh, mas nauunawaan na niya ngayon ang mga gays at kung paano sila magmahal dahil sa ginampanan niya sa pelikula.

John Lloyd admits, he still finds it hard to let go of his character. "Nu'ng patapos na kaming mag-shoot, sinabihan ko si Direk Olive (Lamasan), mami-miss ko si Noel. Ganoon ka-intense 'yung dating ng character niya". Even the movie itself is something new for Lloydie, having portrayed more of the boy-next-door and yuppie type of roles, challenging ang pagiging Noel kay John Lloyd. Siyempre, more than a love story, this is a mother's story. "Sa pelikulang ito, from the character's perspective, makikita niyo ang iba't ibang ugali ng nanay, 'yung maganda at hindi maganda. 'Yung mamahalin at kasusuklaman. So, ako ilang beses sa pelikulang ito, at sa lahat ng naging involved, ang daming pagkakataon na after doing a scene or after reading the script, isang sequence lang ha, not the whole scene, ganoon siya ka-powerful na pagkatapos mo siyang gawin eh, tinawagan ko ang mommy ko. Kinamusta ko siya. Ang mommy ko, alam niyang hindi ako tumatawag nang walang dahilan. Bubuhayin niya (damdamin) 'yun sa inyo. Matanda man kayo o bata."

Aminado rin si John Lloyd na bagama't hindi naman sila ganoon pa ka-confident na tatanggapin ng manonood nang bukas sa puso ang tema ng pelikula, he swears that this is one important film that anyone shouldn't miss. This is the first time Lloydie accepted a gay role at may lover pa siya at that. "Gusto ko rin kasing sumubok ng ibang bagay. Ayoko ng naka-box lang. Imagine at 26 (years old) now, nagampanan ko na ang maging lawyer, maging gay. 'Yun namang tema ng pelikula, yes, involved 'yung two major characters are gay pero ibang-iba ang diskarte at atake. Ibang iba ang treatment. So, sana bigyan nila ng chance. Sana ma-appreciate."

When asked kung ano pa ang nasa isip niya na gusto niyang character to portray to be able to enhance further his gift in acting? "Lagi kong sinasabi na ang pangarap ko lang naman ay makapag-portray ng pinakamaraming characters as possible. Kasi para sa akin, bawat character is a journey, bawat journey importante. Ang dami ko nang nagampanan. Ang dami kong nagampanang roles na iba't ibang identity, iba't ibang personalities. So, para sa akin, 'yun pa lang eh, masaya na ako. Saka gaya ng sabi ko, ayoko ng nakakulong." John Lloyd then talks about his dream role, 'yung matagal na niyang pangarap na gampanan sa TV man o sa pelikula. "Matagal ko nang pangarap 'to, 'yung ginawa ni Sean Penn sa I Am Sam, 'yung ganoon ka-beautiful, huh? 'Yung punung-puno ng mannerisms. Kasi marami ang gumawa nu'ng pero may pagka-stereo type, eh. Pero 'yung kay Sean Penn, bawat mannerisms niya, bawat detalye, talagang nakita mo si Sam. Gusto kong makagawa ng ganoon, in time."

In an interview with Direk Olive, she recalled the day when she and Ms. Charo Santos-Concio auditioned John Lloyd . That was for Star Circle some years ago. Direk Olive said,"My God, Charo, we have a star!" True enough, the boy they auditioned is now one of ABS-CBN's brightest stars and a Box-Office King at that.

Michael Jackson TIGER is in the Line of Fire in California!

Two of Michael Jackson's tigers are currently living in an animal sanctuary right near the massive wildfire burning in California -- but despite mandatory evacuations in the area, they're not going anywhere.


We just spoke to the VP in charge of operations at Shambala Preserve -- owned by "The Birds" star Tippi Hedren -- who tells us "We house 64 big cats and it would be a logistical nightmare to bring all these cats down the road and get in the firefighters way of doing their job."

Two of those 64 cats: Thriller and Sabu (seen above), who were once owned by Michael Jackson. We're told the animals are fine and "don't even realize the commotion around them."

All the employees at the Preserve will be riding out the fire with the animals. As for supplies, they have water tanks, pumps, hoses, generators and a "fridge full of food."

MANILA – An estimated 150,000 people on Sunday flocked to Cagayan de Oro to watch Willie Revillame as he hosted a show sponsored by Sen. Manuel Villar Jr. in the city.

A report said people from neighboring provinces even traveled all the way to Cagayan de Oro just to see the controversial host. The crowd reportedly cheered as Revillame appeared on stage.

Some went wild while others fainted when the host began distributing money to the audience, the report added.

The Cagayan de Oro show was Revillame’s second public appearance since he went on an indefinite leave early this month. Last week, Revillame also hosted a Villar-sponsored concert at Agro Football Field in Davao City.

Revillame, who drew the ire of many after he ordered the removal of former president Corazon Aquino’s funeral procession from his program, is expected to go back to “Wowowee” on September 21.

For the third time, ABS-CBN organized a Star Magic Ball to mark the 17th anniversary of its talent management and development arm last August 30 at the Rizal Ballroom of Shangri-La Makati.

The event was hosted by Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz, and Bea Alonzo. The three stars were tagged as the “brightest” of Star Magic.

'Willie Revillame Bumili ng Jet' says Kris Aquino.

MANILA – “The Buzz” host Kris Aquino revealed on Sunday that controversial “Wowowee” host Willie Revillame is buying a jet plane.

Aquino said Revillame made this disclosure during the birthday party of “Bench” owner Ben Chan Saturday night.

She added that the popular noontime host also promised to take her two children - Joshua and Baby James – to Hong Kong via his new aircraft.

“Dumating si Willie. Tapos sinabi niya na magkaka-eroplano [siya]. Tapos pinangako niya kay Josh at Baby James [na] ililipad niya sa Hong Kong. Thank you, Willie,” Aquino said.

“May dalawa siyang ka-partner pero sharing sila doon sa jet,” she added.

Revillame, who also owns a yacht, is YES! magazine’s 2008 most powerful entertainer in local show business. The magazine said Revillame reportedly earns P1 million per day from his contract with ABS-CBN and endorsement agreements.

The host has yet to publicly confirm his P1-million pay check.

He is currently on leave from his noontime show "Wowowee" after drawing criticisms for ordering, on-air, the removal of former president Corazon Aquino's funeral convoy from his program on August 3.

Revillame, Kris said, is now in Cagayan de Oro to do a show, which is reportedly sponsored by Sen. Manuel Villar Jr. Last week, Revillame also made an appearance in a Villar-sponsored concert in Davao.

Aquino’s “The Buzz” co-host, Boy Abunda, said: “That’s what I always say about Willie. Mga kaibigan, nanatili [siyang] inspirasyon because he works very hard.”

Meanwhile, on tabloid reports romantically linking Revillame to actress Lorna Tolentino, Aquino said: “Willie said, ‘Biru-biruan lang iyan, Kris.’ I think si Tirso (Cruz III) and [his wife] Lynn (Ynchausti) ang medyo nagma-match sa kanila. Paalis na kami, hinabol pa niya (Revillame) ako at sabi, ‘Uy, nakakahiya sa memory ni Da Boy.’”

Tolentino was married to Rudy “Da Boy” Fernandez who passed away last year due to cancer.

The third annual Star Magic Ball was a huge success with your favorite Kapamilya artists coming together just to have fun all night long. Without the usual demands of work, real-life sweethearts geared to full party mode particularly Billy Crawford-Nikki Gil and Kristine Hermosa-Oyo Boy Sotto. They were not just there to attend the event because it’s a must for Star Magic artists but these two pairs were seen having the time of their lives with their showbiz friends.

Hosting this magical affair were the best and brightest of Star Magic – Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz, and Bea Alonzo who constantly joked about each other’s love lives, much to the amusement of their colleagues and ABS-CBN bigwigs including President Charo Santos-Concio and CEO Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III. As the representatives of the younger batch, Kim Chiu, Enchong Dee, and Shaina Magdayao were also there to co-host and make sure that everyone is really enjoying this big event.

The party got into full swing when Rayver Cruz, Sam Concepcion, Mickey Perz, and Thou Reyes hit the dance floor and performed amazing dance stunts together with Star Circle Kids Quest Season 3 winners Bugoy Carino and Izi Canillo. A sizzling dance number was also done by real-life couples Zanjoe Marudo-Mariel Rodriguez, Angelica Panganiban-Derek Ramsay, and Sam Milby-Anne Curtis. Martin Nievera was also quick to address to the audience’s special request to serenade them with his ‘90s hit song Be My Lady.

Even the much-awaited awarding ceremony was equally fun and unforgettable because most of the awardees accepted their trophies with good humor sans the competitiveness that some might expect of celebrities. The 2009 Star Magic Ball Classic Chic Pair award went to Billy and Nikki while Maja Salvador and Rayver Cruz were proclaimed the Best Dressed Couple. For the individual awards, John Lloyd, Bea, and Anne won the Most Stylish, Most Elegant, and Most Glamorous titles, respectively.

On the other hand, the event sponsors also hailed their own set of awardees: Piolo Pascual and KC Concepcion shared the Moet and Chandon Sparkling Couple of The Night Award with the equally beautiful junior pair Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson. Coke’s choice of Most Classic Chic Couple went to Mariel and Zanjoe while Yeng Constantino got to be their Most Fashion-Forward awardee.

Aside from the fun-filled program, it’s also interesting to see other non-Star Magic artists who graced the event which includes Ruffa Gutierrez, Pops Fernandez, and Gretchen Barretto. The trio happily mingled with their friends but what’s more intriguing is if Ruffa eventually caught up with John Lloyd after the program to chat. His good friend Luis Manzano also attended the ball looking preoccupied perhaps with Angel Locsin who didn’t show up with him last night.

In the said Cass 2X Beer tv commericial, Lee Min Ho had a scene in the red Ferrari and then later joined the crowd with Sandara Park, which drove the fan boys crazy. Lee Min Ho was supposed to spot her in the crowd and then make his way toward her.

It is said that Lee Min Ho and Sandara Park were chosen to be the endorser of Cass beer because their trendy image matches perfectly with the image of the beer.
