Rachelle Ann Go & Erik Santos topbill Disney's The Little Mermaid this Nov.8- Dec.11!

Atlantis Productions Inc. (Next to Normal, In The Heights) has just released one of its first promo artworks, which shows one of its lead stars, Rachelle Ann Go, posing as the little mermaid Ariel, her mid-torso resting on a bed of corals, and her synthetic fishtail flashing in the background, for its upcoming production of Disney's The Little Mermaid running from November 18 to December 11 at Meralco Theatre.

Atlantis' take on Disney's The Little Mermaid will mark the first international production of the Broadway musical, which opened at Lunt Fontanne Theatre in New York City three years ago, and played around 700 performances.

Go and fellow recording artist Erik Santos, who will play the role of Prince Eric, Ariel's one true love, will make their professional theater debuts via this production, which according to its directors, Bobby Garcia and Chari Arespacochaga, will also attempt to incorporate Asian puppetry into its virtual under-the-sea scenes.

Cecile Martinez is choreographer; Lex Marcos is set designer; Eric Pineda is costume designer; Jay Aranda is lighting designer; Liz and Benny Batoctoy, and Sam Fuentes are puppet designers; and Manman Angsico is vocal coach. The production is made possible through a special licensing agreement with Music Theatre International.

Boy Abunda's letter to Erik Santos after Backroom Management fired him!

The following letter was handed to Erik Santos personally by Rowena Salido, Backroom’s new president, after he was told that Backroom was releasing him as an artist.

Dear Erik,

Thank you for being part of Backroom for six years and seven months. Now that Backroom is moving towards a new direction and we are letting you go with best wishes, all of us will treasure the good things and learning we have gone through together.

I’m taking a break from my management chores because Nanay needs me — being the most important reason among many others.

But as I say thank you, I hope you find it in your heart as well to be grateful not to me but to the people (in the office) who were with you from the beginning. These are the people who gambled with you in the process, people who believed in the infinite possibilities, people who had so much faith in your talent.

It’s a small thing that I’m asking you. Please say thank you to them. They are not perfect. But they truly have done so much for you, for me and for all of us. Let’s not forget easily.

You are who you are because of your hardwork and talent, God’s guidance, the hardwork of many people, the support of the public, the press, and many others.

Your story (as the Prince of Pop) does not start today.

It started six years, seven months ago, long before your houses and BMW, long before your famous and beautiful friends, long before the designer clothes and shoes.

For you to get to where you want, it is important that you don’t forget. Remain humble and simple. We are all on borrowed time and everything is fleeting.

Be grateful. Thank you.

I will see you soon.

Sincerely,

Boy Abunda

Two of the brightest stars in the Philippines joined forces in their first ever back-to-back concert in front of an ecstatic international audience here.

Singers Christian Bautista and Erik Santos captivated hundreds of fans at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, delivering rousing performances of OPM (Original Pilipino Music) classics and contemporary Western hits.

The event, dubbed as “Champions of the Heart”, was the first ever concert to feature Bautista and Santos together as headliners. The singers performed several duets, as well as solo performances of covers and original songs.

“This was supposed to be done in Manila, but it didn’t happen,” Santos told the crowd.

Bautista added: “That’s right. It’s our first back-to-back concert, and you’re the first to see it.”

Both acts signed copies of their merchandise at the end of the concert, attracting a long queue of fans who were eager to meet their idols.

“It’s really exciting to see those Filipino artists performing, especially here in Europe, so I’m here to support them,” said one elated fan.

Another one added: “It’s always nice to see these young artists. It makes me feel young, and it’s nice to support them.”

The “champions” were joined by comedian Pooh, who tickled the fans with funny anecdotes and his own brand of acerbic quips. The “Banana Split” actor performed comedic songs as part of his routine, as well as joining Bautista and Santos for the finale.

They were also supported by a number of young British Filipino artists, who each opened the show with their rendition of chart-topping songs.

Bautista and Santos emerged in 2003 from the first season of ABS-CBN talent search “Star in a Million.” Both of them have since conquered the hearts of millions of fans, each working successfully as a singer, actor, model and television presenter.

Bautista also proved popular in the rest of Southeast Asia, carving a decent following in countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.

Champions of the Heart toured in Europe through London, Leicester, Vienna, Paris and Milan.

'Star Power' Sharon's Search for the Next Female Pop Superstar magsisimula na Ngayong 10-10-10!

The Megastar joins forces with Asia’s Pop Idol and RP’s Prince of Pop in search for the next female pop superstar.

The long wait is almost over. The curtain is about to be raised. Witness as multi-awarded Megastar Sharon Cuneta spearheads the historic unfolding of her newest and much-anticipated Star Power, Sharon’s search for the next female pop superstar, beginning Sunday, October 10, after Going Bulilit on ABS-CBN.
Judged by acclaimed actor/director Edgar “Bobot” Mortiz, concert legend Mitch Valdes and R&B sensation/TV host Billy Crawford, Sharon Cuneta’s Star Power empowers 20 young female hopefuls from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao to maximize their own potentials, develop their talents and improve their skills. All of them undergo Sharon’s rigorous mentoring, but only one can be hailed female pop superstar.

Meanwhile, Star Power co-hosts Pop Prince Erik Santos and Asia’s Idol Christian Bautista shared in an exclusive interview how excited they are in their first-ever hosting of the talent search. It can be recalled that both of the singers were products of the talent reality search Star in a Million.

“It’s like a full circle. Ngayon, kami naman yung nag-iintroduce ng mga bagong batch ng singers. It’s a great honor and it’s a privilege kasi, in a way, alam namin yung pinagdadaanan nila. Alam namin kung paano sila tutulungan at susuportahan,” Christian said.

Star Power’s premiere on the historic 10.10.10 also marks Erik’s birthday. The Pop Prince expressed his gratitude not only for the hosting opportunity he got in Star Power but also for the happiness he has.
“My birthday wish is syempre, mataas na ratings ng aming show, ang Star Power. Siyempre parating good health, more projects… Ay, love life pa pala. Hahahaha. I want a love na magla-last,” Erik said.

According to Erik and Christian, to become the next pop superstar like them, Star Power contenders must be strong, humble and god-fearing enough to face the challenges the music industry offers.

“Be prayerful. Being in a competition, tama nga si Erik, dapat maging humble ka. Show your best performance always. Kapag nandun ka na sa stage, competitors muna sila. Backstage, friends mo na sila ulet,” Christian said.

If the 20 female contenders practiced painstakingly for their performances, Erik and Christian also prepared a lot in their talent search hosting venture.

“For this one, nag-research ako sa hosting ng isang contest like this one. Kailangan mo kasing magkaroon peg bago mo gawin ang isang bagay. At least meron kang paggagayahan, meron kang model. Binalikan ko yung mga episodes ng isang international singing competition. Tiningnan ko rin pati yung hosting sa Star in A Million before,” Erik shared.

With hosts and contestants already geared up, Star Power is now ready to dominate the Sunday’s Primetime block. Never miss “Sharon’s Search for the Next Female Pop Superstar” on Sunday, October 10, after Going Bulilit at ABS-CBN.
